2017 model year changes to Africa Twin

VisorDown reports that Honda is addressing the spoke problem with the 2017 AT, plus (maybe) cruise control standard equipment. Along with a few other minor changes: http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-...g-updated-2017

Sounds good to me.

I very much doubt there will be cruise control; the VFR1200X doesn't have it so why would they put it on an off-road centric bike?

I agree there wont be cruse on it in 2017. No way they would put it on in the second year of the bike. Maybe down the road a few years.

For what it is worth my dealer (the largest Honda dealer in Colorado) says their rep said there wont be cruse and there wont be any color changes coming to the US.

True cruise control on motorcycles with cable actuated throttles has been around a long time. My '84 Yamaha Venture had a factory vacuum servo cruise control system, as did high end '87 on Goldwings. MCCruise (Australia) has offered similar aftermarket systems since 1997. And a lot of bikers have adapted automotive aftermarket systems to motorcycles, both vacuum and electronic (Audiovox/Rostra and more recently Brandon AP500 systems). Honda wont have any trouble putting cruise control on the Africa Twin...if they choose to - and they should.

People seem to assume because there's a cable operated throttle it's not ride by wire. However the cable operates a control unit not the throttle so the bike is ride by wire. So cruise would actually be technically very easy to fit.

I wonder where that leaves those of us with corroding spokes on the 2016 models. Mine have already started albeit I am trying to keep it at bay with AFC50. However we haven't even seen salted winter roads yet and it is happening already. I am holding fire for the time being.
