Can anyone point me towards simple iPhone mounting solutions for my AT? The horizontal screen bar above the clocks is begging for some form of mount to quickly attach (securely!!) / remove a phone...
IPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy S6 Givi Smart Phone Holder with the Givi S902A PDA Mount
I have the Givi part number S957B, IPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy S6 holder, and the Givi S902A PDA Case Fitting System.
First problem was that the S902A PDA cases fitting system is not currently being sold in the USA. So, I purchased the mount from The Adventure Bike Shop, UK. Had to pay in pounds. So, I took a real British pounding after I paid for shipping to USA.
Second problem was I have an Apple Iphone 7 Plus. The Givi S957B fit is perfect. However, to make the Iphone 7 Plus water resistant, Apple changed every thing about the home button on the Iphone 7. So, the touch screen works perfect though the water resistant Givi clear plastic front. However, once you hit the home button when in the Givi case, nothing happens. Take Iphone 7 out of case the home button works, put Iphone 7 in case home button no-works! Problem solved, as there is a Apple work around to move the home button to the screen.
Not knowing where you are from, I have this for an iPhone 6S, it has performed well. http://buybits.com/water-resistant-iphone-6s-4-7-motorcycle-crossbar-mount-sku-32409.html See "Ultimate Addons" Clamps posts for pictures mounted to AT above the clocks. On buybits website enter 32409 in the search bar and it will come up. £32.98 complete with case and bar mount. Case can be unclipped leaving the bar mount in place, they ship worldwide.
Yep, same mount as I have but with the soft iPhone 6S case (hard back) rather than the hard case here. I like the soft case as it allows me to fit my car sat nav occasionally too. if you buy the clamp and case as one part number on buybits it comes out a bit cheaper than buying separately. It is a great simple solution.
Its not the prettiest thing - but its really hard to beat an X-Grip. Been using one for 5 or 6 years now, fits all the phones I've had, my GPS, my GoPro and my wallet on occasion.
For motorcycling I highly recommend that everyone has a communication hands free head set. Then take the time to learn all the siri commands, it is a lot safer than using your fingers with the Iphone when moving on the motorcycle.
Just as a word of warning to those buying the ultimate add-ons cases: I got through 2 of them in less than 2 years due to plastic fatigue on the three tiny plastic connectors causing the case to fall off mid-ride. Resulting in a (probably hilarious to watch) scene of myself trying to catch it whilst moving! If you've got one then best to keep a close eye on it or make sure its got a redundancy attachment to the bike in some other way on long tours.
I since switched to the Givi version and haven't had any issues.
Worth noting, thanks for the heads up trialsta. I generally leave my case on the bike and take the phone out instead, thereby not fatiguing the connectors. (I hope). The soft case has an additional clip point and strap, that could be used as a redundant tether. It is meant for carrying it around but not sure anyone would bother to do that. Alternatively and seeing as you mentioned your failure I might just put a small cable tie around the clip point and bar. I just did, see pics, a reasonable investment of 5c to save an expensive phone!
Hi, does the Givi S957B fit on the screen bar above the clocks? With just the plastic mount it comes with or do I need the additional mount that 'old can ride' uses in the photos (the silver coloured mounting device?) I'm confused as to what I need to mount my IPhone 7 to the screen above the clocks. Thanks Phill
These guys make a very good solution that and a zipp lock bag are good for 10m underwater and completely dust proof, and you get about 20 of the bags for a couple of bucks. http://www.hondogarage.com/index.php/catalog/motorcycle
While searching the web, I found some iPhone x bike mount holder. Share your opinion, you like it or not. howtoisolve.com/best-iphone-x-bike-mounts-holder/
