Local US dealers keeping AT's on the showroom floor

I placed my deposit about a month ago with Honda World in Salt Lake City, knowing the promised availability from Honda was just moved out to late November. The silver DCT which I test rode has been marked "sold" and is still sitting on the showroom floor - for several weeks now. It turns out that the dealer will not let that buyer pick up his bike until the new ones arrive. How bad does that suck for him? Of course, the dealer always wants one on the floor to show prospective buyers. I believe other local dealers do the same thing.

I keep surfing for any Kumamoto factory info or delivery updates but have found nothing new since around Aug. 1. If there are any new updates, I hope they will be posted on this site.

I would not let the dealer "hold" my bike and would purchase one from another dealer. There are several ATs (DCT and clutch) on the floors of the local St Louis, MO dealers and I am sure they will sell you one today that can be ridden home.

Well, of course I agree with you. I am guessing the buyer has only made a deposit, and the dealer would simply let him lose his place in line if he wants to back out.

There are always some dealers who earn the right to go out of business...unfortunately, they rarely do. I avoid a few local dealers for that same reason.

Sounds like some legal issue there. If you bought the bike, take it. My dealer didn't even put a battery in mine until I showed him I was serious. He didn't want to sell a used bike after every squid out there wanted to take it for a test ride and beat the piss out of it.
