Garage
I purchased a Schuberth C3 and a Shoei Multitec in 2011. The Schuberth is only used for about 25/30 days of each year but the Shoei is used weekly. Interestingly the Shoei, despite the more frequent use, is in better condition. I have always felt the Shoei was a better quality item especially because of the locking mechanism on the flip front and the manner in which the lining has kept its integrity.

I will shortly purchase another Shoei and this time it will be the Neotec or its equivalent. Arai is also a make that I have big respect for but sadly they do not make a flip front. I am aware of the reasons why.

Arai XD-4, in hi-viz yellow!
It's my second Arai, great construction and ventilation. It's the right fit for my head shape, and I felt more comfortable than the competing Shoei helmet.

Thanks guys, as far as i know we don't get the Schuberth down here in Australia, but thanks for your advise so far, looks like Shoei or Arai it's just up to my head shape.

Another note on the Arai XD-4 or any other adventure equivalent helmet that I didn't notice until after I started riding with it was the field of view vs. my previous Arai Astral (much sportier helmet). The extra peripheral vision from the larger face-hole is really nice to have.

How about this one. Light weight, good quality. Former UVEX Helmet but cheaper.

I use a Shoei RF1200. It has been the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned.

Thought about the Klim Krios? It is supposed to be very lightweight and premium quality. Expensive of course - $A795. I'm using the AGV AX8 Dual Evo atm, but I'm considering just using that for city commuting, and going back the Arai XD4, or trying the Krios, for adventure/dualsport use. I haven't tried the Krios so I can't comment on its performance, but I have owned the XD and it is really good. Also the Krios is $100 cheaper than the XD4 and comes with Pinlock included.

Hi Burger,
Schuberth helmets I have read on different forums are sold in Australia as rebadged BMW helmets. Apparently, owners of BMW helmets have confirmed that on the internal tag you can read the name Schuberth.

Perhaps it's an option too.

Cheers

DD why are you switching from the AGV back to Arai? The AX8 is one that I am seriously considering along with the Nexx XD1. I'd hate to plunk down 400 or 500 on a helmet and then find that I don't like it.
