MT-07 based 2017 Yamaha Tenere?
Visordown thinks Yamaha will show a pre-release dual sport ADV replacement to the XT660Z Tenere based on the MT/FZ-07 platform at the EICMA show in Milan in November.

That should be good news for ADV riders serious about real off road adventures. Not so good for manufacturers in that market segment (BWM, Triumph, Honda).
The existing MT/FZ-07 has 75 hp, weighs 397 lbs wet, MSRP in the US, is $7000. They do not come with ride by wire throttle, traction control or ride modes, but they could (MT/FZ-09 based models already have those features). Assuming that for the new Tenere, Yamaha re-tunes the engine for a lower torque curve, adds serious dirt ready suspension, bigger fuel tank, maybe a better seat, it would probably pick up a few pounds and lose a few horsepower and should be a formidable contender in the mid-weight ADV market. And, if Yamaha throws in RBW with TC plus ride modes, and follows their current pricing practice with MT/FZ variants, it should be priced between $8000-8500.
Imagine a dirt oriented Adventure bike, between 100-170 pounds lighter than the competition, with the same or a better power to weight ratio, priced $5000-$10000 less than any of the others. Heads at the other manufacturers' should be spinning like Linda Blairís in the Exorcist right now.
