+1 for the Vlad brace.

Just fitted one to my 2018 ATAS and apart from being a bit fiddly getting a couple of the bolts in, everything fitted perfectly and looks really decent quality and a little less obtrusive than some other designs.

Vlad is a pleasure to deal with too and answers questions via email quickly.

The problem with the stock piece isn't the welds - but rather the thinwall tubing they used. I think they designed it using parameters for street riding rather than offroad - because it isn't beefy enough even before you mount anything on it.

Even putting a larger windscreen could probably lead to it failing. It would have been a pretty poor decision of them to design it for road use only when the bike is clearly intended for 50/50 use. I also suspect that someone using it only on road with a GPS on it, would eventually break it as well.
