Honda topcase.....

Installed an altrider plate on the back for my MotoFizz bag or when my wife rides I can pop on her trunk for her laptop and purse and things (she feels safer with a backrest so boom, topcase). Ended up mounting the trunk two inches further aft, gives us plenty of room and makes it easier for me to swing a leg over the bike and not bang my boot on the top case. LOL

From your picture it looks like you have a lot hanging off the back unsupported. Is there anything sturdy under the rear of the case to support it?

Oh yeah, I good 85+% of the Honda mounting plate is attached to the aluminum rack (Altrider plate). It will never have more than 10 lbs in it and will only be on when commuting 2up with the wife. If I tour on it Ill use my motofizz bag directly attached to the altrider plate.

I have a 2017 AT so a bit different I guess and I rock a GIVI Outback top case for commuting and now riding with the kids on occasion. I too had the AltRider plate but I gave it up once I started going two up with the youngin's. The angle to be utilized as a backrest was too acute. I ended up going with Givi mounting plate and it lifts the top case up a bit but more importantly levels it out better so it's easier on the passengers. Speaking of passenger comfort I also purchase the Givi backrest pads, BUT only installed the lower pad as an FYI. The upper pad has an absolutely atrocious design and it digs into the back. The lower is sufficiently thick so that they don't dig into the top case hinges. Another thing I like about the Givi mounting plate is it is a much more solid connection than with the AltRider plate. A lot less vibration and bouncing of the case. Let me know if you want some pics.

Yeah the Honda topcase hangs off the back of the Honda base-plate like 3 inches it seems (looks odd). I should measure it I guess but yeap I could have probably mounted it a little further forward but Its the way it is so I can get on and off when swinging a leg over. LOL That and I didn't want to drill into the Honda grab bar/rack. The altrider plate bolts to the Honda grab rail/rack without drilling. Im not even sure (I sure they do) Honda has a base plate for the Adventure Sport rack (its a little different than the standard Africa Twin.
