FarangMoto Have a Nexx XD.1 - my second and I'm as dissapointed with this one as I was the first.

Why did I buy it? Unfortunately, the Caberg Tourmax Sonic were sold out which I think is one of the best, affordable helmets with a safety rating much higher than most helmets such as Aria.

With my first Nexx, it was impossible to keep your had straight due to buffeting on my previous Versys. It caught everything. I took a chance thinking the Africa Twin might work with it. While slightly better, it is still bad. The Caberg didn't suffer from this problem despite having a peak. It is quieter and much more comfortable than the Nexx. I have since ordered another and no doubt my Nexx will be sat on the shelf or sold after only a month like the last one I had.

The Caberg is a Flip up adventure helmet. May have put a few people off but check Sharp helmet safety ratings for comparison to other, similar but higher priced models.

Joburble IMO the most important feature of any helmet is its primary function and that is to save your brain in a crash while being light enough not to damage your neck. Obviously there are standards that helmets have to pass, however these governing bodies don't always agree on the test methods used, so here's my philosophy. Buy a helmet that fits properly and has DOT, Snell, ECE 22-05 and a 5 Star Sharps safety rating. Yes it is possible to buy a helmet that has passed all of these standards. IMO it's not just a matter of picking a brand name as some of the very well respected brands have helmets in their catalogue that only get a 2 Star Sharps rating. In regard to helmet fit it needs to be comfortable and it needs to not come off when done up in any circumstance. When in the shop I put the helmet on and do it up. Then I try to get the chin strap off by pushing down on the top of the helmet while pulling the strap forward and over my chin. The other test is to simply tilt your head forward and pull up and forward on the back of the helmet and see if it will come off while done up. If you can get the helmet off in the shop while done up, it will come off in a big crash. On a couple of occasions when trying on helmets I have been able to get the helmet more off than on using this method of testing even while the salesman is telling me it's a perfect fit! Then when you have found a range of helmets to chose from start looking at the other features that are important to you.

Drif10 Been through an xd, xd3, and currently on an xd4 that's almost six years old. Got a deal on an E1 in last year's colours, picking that up tomorrow. In time for more snow and freezing rain, of course.

HeartlandDualSport NEXX XD1, just got it in yesterday, did a video on it, will post next monday. Pretty excited to get is and I will do a full review on it after i have some miles on it. But for me, one of the big selling points is the sun shade you can pull down. I have light sensitive eyes and shoving sunglasses into a helmet never really works right for me. I have been using a Bilt, from cycle gear, it works ok if your gong slow but tons of wind and other noise, so Looking forward to seeing how well this one will work. I looks awesome I will say that.

Great fit for my head, good venting and quiet compromise. No buffeting for me with my AT and MRA Vario Touring Screen. It matches the color scheme of my rally red AT to boot.
Thanks guys, after much deliberation on price and fit and comfort and fit and comfort and fit and comfort, I chose the Shoei.
As I will be wearing it on long trips I figured I needed (did I mention) the fit and comfort for me, price no longer came into the equation.
Love it

It's not a bad helmet, but I find that it doesn't work real well for me on the AT: the airflow over the bike's screen catches the peak real bad at well below motorway speeds and puts a lot of pressure on my neck muscles. And I don't want to keep taking the peak on and off on this helmet because the fixing screws are very weak. Those problems disappear when using the AX8 with a naked bike, which shows that is not the helmet itself but the combination of helmet, bike and rider.
I borrowed an Arai XD4 to try out with the AT and although there is some buffeting there is a lot less pressure on my head and neck. It just seems to work better for me with the AT. Plus I've had the Arai before and it is a quality bit of gear.

JohnG Schuberth E1 - BUT, I am finding it very hot. Riding in 28+ degree C is uncomfortably hot, even with all vents open.
