On the tarmac/asphalt 65km/h probably not too bad, but on gravel... Were you OK?!

Will it reach

I plan to try the Zumo above the instruments, so I don't think the rolled up cables could be put anywhere, really. I'm thinking about rolling them up and encasing them in a plastic bag or something...

Longer arms

This is interesting, thank you. So the result is that when fully closed, the throttle is further from you and your arm/hand is more fully extended, which maybe allows finer adjustments? It would make...

Perfect

There is something agricultural about the way it just digs in and chugs its way around uphill corners, at least on the DCT.

Yes, **** cables

I'd like to hear opinions also. Would prefer not to just hack them off my 595LM, but may end up doing just that.

Rackless

And if you're interested in going rackless, the Nomad would appear to make more sense than the Camel.

No G button

No, we didn't touch the G button. The instructors had a basic knowledge of the DCT, and were able to give advice and tips, e.g. the DCT will try to freewheel if you start off downhill on a closed...

Austenitic?

Excellent idea, but these screws are stainless and the other one of the pair is not picked up by a magnet, so I think that may be an issue.

Thanks olmoggy1 and TequilaSqueel - just slightly worried that the undoing or torquing up the nuts could result in 250kg of bike coming down on my head. Maybe I'm being too cautious.

A screw loose (bash plate)

This afternoon I was quietly working on installing Vlad's brace.

Took out the round rubber boots to get better access. Stuffed paper towel into the holes to avoid dropping an M6 16mm bolt into the...

Rack

If you plan to add a rack, SW Motech do a nice "Adventure Rack" that, with a small adaptor, takes a Givi case.

Spain

It's a good one isn't it. I also watched this before going ahead and ordering my DCT. Now riding the gravel roads in northern Spain is something I've put on my rider bucket list.

Why change?

If you're happy with a manual box, and have no specific reasons to go with the DCT (hand pain or fatigue, lots of stop-start commuting, etc.) then I would stick with a manual. I like the DCT, but...

The last "proper" bike I had was a CBR400RR a few years ago, so it's quite a change. The CBR was low, stubby and agile. The AT, not so much. I'm too short for the adventure model, but wouldn't have...

Good intro pdoolan - sounds like you've put a few miles on a few bikes! What made you switch from the GS to the AT? Did you just feel like a change?

I imagine the RD now feels quite... sedate...

I must admit that so far I haven't found the dash to be a problem at all - indeed, I think it's pretty good. I haven't put many miles on it yet, but a mixture of sunny and overcast weather. Is this...

It is only money after all

Or spend a small amount of money and enjoy the ride more, which is presumably what we buy the bikes for!

If you're reasonably well paid, most things related to the bike can be bought for the...

Weight watching

This occurs to me also. It's a heavy bike, and once you start adding stuff it only gets heavier. Given a choice between adding several kg for a pannier rack and several kg in crash bars, I'd sooner...

Cutter

Indeed. My thought would be to contact your local sign writer and ask if they (or you) can trace or measure the outline of the visor thingy, create a representation, then cut a blank piece of thick...
