Never had a backfire with mine but I did over fill the oil and used a small clear hose to siphon the oil out, cause I didn’t have extra crush washers nor felt like dropping the skid plate again....

Yea as mike says try a different level of sport mode, or use just drive mode, mine in “standard drive mode’ will have me in 6th @ 35mph.
“Standard drive mode” is really useless to me no matter what...
