At the precise moment I was overtaking a truck in Sumatra (at speed), the truck went hard right hand down and deflected my bike into the ground. Subframe bent 30mm (measured over the axle)... hence the bike's name. I landed diaphragm first and ended up a pathetic mess gasping at air for what seemed an eternity. Fortunately having landed to the right, the pannier weight was now more centred :) Makes me think twice about some over engineered reinforced pannier frames... you don't want them to bend on minor impact but in the event of major impact you want them to bend... not the bike's subframe.
