Yep this is New Mexico. To the west we start looking like Arizona and to the North there are plenty of parts you can mistake for Colorado. To the East like Texas. This make for a diverse experience if your willing to drive and like the outdoors. One of the biggest reasons I picked up the Africa Twin over another smaller dual sport is you really need the range to explore.
It sound a bit like us. The further east the more it looks like Kansas and the further west the more like Utah.

Most of my riding in NM has been around Taos, Angle Fire, Cuba, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, etc.

But a couple of excursions to Capulin Volcano, Giant Array, Pie Town and a few other side trips.

A few more to keep this blue AT thread alive. Deep sand has been the biggest learning curve for me so far in the step up to a larger bike. I intentionally got it stuck a couple times to verify I could get it out and/or pick her up if needed.
