Kudos to Dennis [email protected] for uncovering these documents

Back in July, Honda released a video teasing a new “True Adventure” model, expected to be an upsized Africa Twin CRF1100L. Thanks to new vehicle certification documents published in Australia, Motorcycle.com can confirm the 2020 Honda Africa Twin will have a 1084cc engine, a choice of manual or dual clutch transmissions, and be offered in both a regular and Adventure version. According to the documents, the 1084cc engine produces 101 hp at 7500 rpm, whereas the previous 998cc engine is certified at 94 hp.

The certification documents also give us a glimpse of what the 2020 Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure will look like. The documents include two shots of both models, though unfortunately, only in grayscale and in a small resolution. Still, they’re enough to reveal a redesigned front face, and a new frame and subframe.

Maybe some have not seen this article from Rideapart... some nice photos of the new AT, but the coolest thing is the photo that lets you slide a window to see what changed, about 2/3 of the way down the article.

Looks like some incremental improvement without piling on any weigth...

Finally a real cruise control!

I would want one, but don't think I would pay $5k difference from the 2017 I just picked of as NOS.

Just bought a 2019 this summer the new one looks cool, but aside from the cruise control, I don't see anything that would make be want to spend 5-6000$ to upgrade. Maybe once I've put 100000km on my 2019 :)

Same. I just bought a new 2017 for $8600 OTD so I can live with its shortcomings. That said, cruise control on the 2020 makes me uber-jealous as I said I would never buy another bike without it.

I do like the new tail look on the 2020. Much sleeker...

From what I've read, the seat height on the new 2020 can be adjusted almost an inch lower than the low setting on my 2018. I can flat-foot mine, but when I've all loaded up, another inch would help when I get caught off guard, or if I'm at the end of a 500 mile day. As far as horsepower goes, I'm fine with the uber-power this beast has already. I like the border roads in SE Arizona. It's nearing the end of monsoon here and the mud will be drying into ruts of cement-like terrain. I run the Kenda K678 that works for me, for now.
