I like the idea of the Honda rackless panniers. Apparently its a bit of a pain if you buy them after market to get the locks done for the ignition key? My apologies if this has been covered on a previous post.I have the oem plastic panniers. I went with them because I only use occasionally and seeing as they are rackless the bike looks standard when not using them.
I am not sure about the pre 2020 ones but the post 2020 ones are not too bad, probably about 10-15 mins to remove the barrels and then maybe about the same to swap all the internals of the barrel to suit your key.I like the idea of the Honda rackless panniers. Thanks for that Hood. 👍 👨🎓😬I am not sure about the pre 2020 ones but the post 2020 ones are not too bad, probably about 10-15 mins to remove the barrels and then maybe about the same to swap all the internals of the barrel to suit your key.
Oh one thing to note however, they need to be opened using the key before you can remove the lock so make sure any second hand ones you buy either have the key or have the barrels removed.
Wayne would you care to share the source/ supplier and was there any duty, shipping or other added on delivery to Canada? ThxWhen I was in Florida in December I rented an AT with Tusk hard panniers. Before leaving Florida I ordered a set for my 2023 ATAS. Very impressed with the quality at the price point. Have had SW Motech in the past, but at less then half the cost and even more stout IMHO, the Tusk is an easy pill to swallow.
Purchased from Rocky Mountain. Ordered and had delivered to my condo in Florida so no duties. And since it was well under the maximum allowed by Customs. Realize that doesn’t help you at all.Wayne would you care to share the source/ supplier and was there any duty, shipping or other added on delivery to Canada? Thx
Gnarly Parts out of Chilliwack BC lists them(I've been looking too), I ordered wheels from them. They were good to deal with and free shippingWayne would you care to share the source/ supplier and was there any duty, shipping or other added on delivery to Canada? Thx
I take it that if you want Honda ally panniers as opposed to poly you have to have a big rack fitted to hold them??I have the oem plastic panniers. I went with them because I only use occasionally and seeing as they are rackless the bike looks standard when not using them.
Affirmative. AT Aluminum PannierI take it that if you want Honda ally panniers as opposed to poly you have to have a big rack fitted to hold them??
Also frames required for more or less any other hard panniers also.I take it that if you want Honda ally panniers as opposed to poly you have to have a big rack fitted to hold them??
You’re probably going to have difficulty fishing up an argument there unless some luggage mfg is lurking here. As a relative value prop though when measured against the OEM poly @ USD $1100 then the aluminums don’t look so bad.I think they are ALL WAY OVERPRICED, for just a small aluminum box.
True about the plastic ones too, but in comparison my KLR cost me 320$ total for all three boxes and mounts. Then too a oil change was a little over 20$You’re probably going to have difficulty fishing up an argument there unless some luggage mfg is lurking here. Tusk is intriguing but their rack is steel, not stainless steel.
