Hi All

As promised ive had a quick ride of my new steed which arrived today.

If anyone has ridden a X ADV, this is how much better it is, the gearbox on the X ADV is “i would say” is perfect hence they haven’t changed any-gearbox settings in the 2022 XADV.

So Driving in Drive Mode which i wouldn’t normally do as it changes gear too early as feels like it was labouring too much, now it changes further up the rev range. I would suggest it revs another 150RPM ish just to make it noticeable and more rideable and 50% less labouring which matches perfectly with RPM and Road speed.

Also when riding up through the-gearshift in D , second is more like a click into second with a tiny jolt, and after that the gear change is almost not “feel able” being super smooth.
Significantly smoother than a good manual gearbox ( non dct) change

Ok so up to 60mph and i now let the bike slow down all the way to 5 mph on its own, the bike just clicks down through the box and second to first is 50% smoother than before and they have definitely cracked the jerkiness code. YES!!:)))

Before it used to hang onto the gears a little too long in “low gears then jump down a gear causing a jolt.

S1 mode, again ridden carefully not aggressively is virtually the same as D mode however the revs are higher and VERY smooth.
In S1 mode. It clicks into first, second is click and a very small jolt, i mean very small, it feels like they have shortened the 1-2 gap 2nd to 3rd is a click and no jolt whatsoever as are all the other gears.
Overall for me it was definitely worth the change.

i cannot detect any other changes such as slow to draw down main screen and the settings being backwards.

love this new bike and an absolute pleasure to ride slowly, havent had a chance at the higher speeds as running in but the gear change smoothness wasnt an issue here.

LOVE IT!!

Hi there
So the dashboard settings, anything in particular?

Personally i think they are backwards but hey.

Most Power = 1 bar
Least power = full bars

Tour is the MOST powerful but has the least bars as per pic.
Off Road has the least power Thank you to whoever posted that picture originally.
My way of remembering is More is less or Less is more. :)))
Even now hopefully i have it right!

I honestly don’t know, thinking software but a pure guess buddy, what ever they have done i feel they have cracked the DCT code, i think with any V1 bikes or whatever the V2 has the quirks ironed out.

Cheers u, this looks different?
Looks like they have painted it differently as i don't recall my 2020 AT looking like this or am i looking at it with starry eyes:))

looks like a nice underseal type finish
I think mine is like that but just put it away, might go round later and see.

Thanks for these thoughts! Helpful (I’m on the East Coast in the USA and hoping to get a 2022 DCT soon (my other ride is a CRF250l). Have you done anything where you were switching between 1st and 2nd only (e.g., riding slow doing some technical maneuvers, on or off-road)? If so, what was that experience like and in what mode(s)? Thanks again!

Hi Mike

As Hood said ,understand its the graphics and more importantly the gearbox settings. Supposed to be less aggressive/smoother low speed which is either a software change or gear ratio adjustments. Ought to do a comparison on those between 20/22.
Personally i thinking due to me riding both that its a software adjustment.
Ive just ridden it again for a few miles and i have to say it’s virtually faultless now. Not that i thought my 20 model wasnt good, it was good and i adapted to it.
this gear change is “almost” as smooth as my DSG gearbox on my car which im really pleased as i dont have to adapt to its quirks.

Yep which begs the question about doing the soft ware update on 20 MY bikes.
adjustments of the throttle potentiometer.
programming at what point it changes gear in relation to road speed and revs. This is really only a program event so someone out there Could do this, specialist tuners or?

anyway so i wanted to buy another present soooo :)))))
