After you put on the new slip-on…
Did you try your bike with the exhaust valve still (connected) working ?
Does it do the obvious to the sound ?
IF you did try it, then unhooked it, did it feel different after?

I‘m just curious, because, IF it doesn’t just totally make the exhaust sound like 💩 it might be nice to have a quiet exhaust at times, in trails, in the morning when warming the bike up, etc.

Not really sure how you can fit a new silencer (unless like the SC Project I have) and still keep the valve connected as the valve is part of the oem silencer.

@Hood
Oh thanks …
never looked at the new pipes, I was thinking they were in-line with the slip on, not on the slip on itself…
kind of a bummer, it might have been interesting if it was just a in-line option…

Lol!!!
I guess the new OEM exhaust is not really a “slip on” with all that to disconnect…

Maybe it’s just me, but that whole setup just looks like an issue down the road.

Most people seem to just disconnect the cables from the motor and leave that in situ. Some remove the motor as well (thing in top right of previous pic) and fit a Healtech eliminator.
As said I went with the SC Project, it comes with a valve section so I can keep the motor/cables etc.

I've got a 22' ATAS DCT [US version]. Just took out the spark arrestors, put the caps back on, and went for a rip. Sounds amazing. Just did this tonite here in Maine :)
cause is an US version ...
only Akra ; sc project and termignoni are reteining the oem valve.

I have heard/read that the valve gives a bit more torque at lower revs but whether that is true or not I have no idea.
That was kinda what was behind my question, as far as I know that is why Honda put it in there in the first place.
So I was just curious what a aftermarket can did to that, I know that they can make the bike sound sooo much better, but if getting a better sound takes away performance….
I put a can on my bike for better sound and looks, even if I hadn’t got a very very slight improvement, I would still be happy with the sound and looks.

How is the SC Project's?
I'm waiting for my ATAS with Arrow straight pipes and original silencer. I'd like to mount something smaller and lighter like the SC or Akra ones, but I don't want to become my neighbors worst nightmare neither be annoyed on long travels, so I'm considering only options with original valve.

They can seize, causing the engine management light to come on. Mine did, dealer reckons it was crap left to build up around the unit, holding moisture and causing corrosion. Really decent dealer cleaned it up a bit and made a successful warranty claim.

I did not want a loud pipe and thus went with the SC Project as it is slightly louder than stock but not much but a deeper, nicer sound.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking about what will happen. EFI engines exhaust is much hotter than a carb one. So that’s a lot of stress on the pipe, heating and cooling, let alone something that has to twist and remain free from binding up. Throw in some moisture ( condensation ) to that too.
LOL but with all that said, as often as I usually change bikes it wouldn’t be a concern for me anyway..

Good attitude. It is different with motorcycles, hopefully. In the car world, someone with a new Mustang equipped with the performance package kept the cabin switch in the loud exhaust position rather than the quieter selection when departing or arriving in his neighbourhood completely disregarding request from people on his street to use the quieter mode. One day the car would not start and had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer replaced the majority of the exhaust system. One of his upset neighbours emptied one of more cans of expanding foam insulation into the exhaust system completely filling the cavities in the pipes and muffler. As much as I can understand the frustration, I won't condone the action taken. It was a terrible thing to do to a nice car. Blame Kharma.

You get out of life, what you put in…
My AT is loud, so I don’t start it up in my driveway between the house, at least not early in the morning. Normally I push it to the sidewalk in front of my house and refrain from getting the RPM’s to high..

That's what I'm looking for! I don't really like stock sound, but I neither like too loud exhausts...

Me too, my actual bike is noisy but nobody has problem with it, since I start it, let idle for half a minute then go away at low RPMs
