I put 22.5l of fuel in to fill it up.
So you had about 1.7L of fuel remaining, or almost 1/2 of a U.S. gallon.

That sounds right in the ballpark of having 21 to 30 miles left in range.

Sadly, as @AT-Dragon points out, you would need to nap the AT to get the remaining fuel out (and probably clean the ATAS fuel filter too of welding seam particulate).

The Forum has yet to post a procedure on how to nap the AT for getting the last bit of range out of the fuel tank.

Tip the bike to one side? Do I look like Hercules 🤣🤣
ROFL - yea, no one said it would be easy.. then again; pushing it to the gas station is no piece of cake either..
But we’ll agree, it would be no issue on say a 125cc..

But there is a very simple solution to easily fix this issue.
STOP AND GET GAS...
My rule of thumb:
Rural areas 1/4 tank is empty.
Remote areas 1/2 tank is empty.

I got down to 12mi of range left on my 2019, at which point it started to sputter accelerating, from the slosh I assume. Coasted into the gas station being veeeery easy on the throttle.

Another thing to factor in, besides possible debris in the fuel tank, is that often fuel pumps are in the fuel tank and cooled by the fuel. I pretty much always fill up when I have a 1/4 tank or less. It just isn't worth the risk.

The one caveat to that is when I first buy the bike/car, I'll run it pretty low to see how much is really left in the tank when the warning lights come on.

I've run the AT tank down a few times to the last two liters (about a half a U.S. gallon) of gas. I know what's left when I fill the tank. The computer indicated I had about 38 kms range left. This is pretty close and good enough for me since I was getting about 5.0L/100 kms.

It calculates the mileage by your average, not by current consumption. So the DTE is approximate, also your tank was NOT empty.
It’s called the “gas trick” or reserves reserve.
Almost all motorcycle tanks are horse shoe shaped, So the gas trick is to lay the bike on the side of the pick-up for the fuel pump or the old school petcock. There is anywhere from 1-2 quarts of gas on “the other side”.
I’ve known people to get another 12/22 miles doing that..
So in reality that DTE was closer then you thought.
Now that makes since as the range claimed 180 miles at the last fill up. But we were riding in into massive headwinds and doing a lot of two lane passing at 85/95 MPH through the Mojave Desert.

Ran my '21 ASES many miles after the red light came on.

Manual says the tank holds 6.55 gallons

I filled up at 331.1 miles according to the bikes odometer, GPS agreed within 1.5 miles

The bike computer display says used 6.3 gals and 33 miles to go.

I put in 6.542 gallons filled as normal just into the filler neck.

So: Calculated 50.6mpg
If actual capacity is 6.55 gallons, I had .008 gal left!!! That would take me at 50.6mpg... .4048 miles!!!!

So either the (my?) tank holds more than 6.55 gallons or the computer is showing an optimistic range, based likely on average mpg which is 52.1, but that still leaves about 10 miles to go, not 33!! 6.3 gallons at 52.1mpg still only leaves 13 miles to go.

Point is, as pointed out before.. Fill up ASAP after the red light appears. ( I usually fill at 250 or so but curious about true range, ran quite a way after the red appeared, but not sure exactly how far ).

Last week I was able to fill up right after my light came on. It said I had used 5.6 gallons. I filled to the neck like you and it took 5.6. So, at least this time it was correct. I got 50.2 mpg.

Red came on today right around 60 miles to go ( it said ). Filled up about 20 miles later, said I needed 6.3, it took 6.277.

So seems to be some wobbly-ness it it's calcs.

good to know, I usually fill up with 2 bars showing anyway... I'd not ride 300 miles in one sitting on the stock low seat...

lol - I've been filling up 30 minutes after the fuel light comes on. I typically have 2L left in the tank and it concurs with Honda's running calculation. Mind you, I ride calmly after the fuel light comes on.

This has a been a great source to understand what I could be facing.
A lot of this makes sense with a fair amount of gas left in the tank. I have just removed the tank and fuel pump and awaiting the new Guglatech filter and filter sleeve.
when I removed the tank and tried to empty what was left, I could not get the gas out. I could not pour it out the top fill part and the big open area where the pump was open. So the pump is not the lowest point.
Hope this helps those who thought there was gas left.

I've run mine 24 miles after the fuel light came on and had at least several miles to spare. But usually find a gas station when it comes on, but then again there has to be one nearby which isn't always the case out in rural parts, and I hate going the other way than the direction I am headed to find gas.:D

I have a new 2021 ATAS and mine has been puzzling me with the gas/mpg I'm only coming up on my first 1000 miles and my average mpg according to the dash is 37. Which as far as I can see on this forum is horrible, I also noticed when my gauge reads 2 or 1 block less and I go to fill up I'm putting around 4 gallons in it meaning the bike is telling me I'm empty with 2 gallons still in it? Seems weird I might mention it when I go to get it serviced

My fuel gauge seemed a bit out of whack at first, it would drop very fast and be on the last bar and when I filled up it was just over half a tank. It seems to be more accurate now, not sure why as you wouldn't think it would be something that would need to settle in. Likewise the temperature reading, previously it would be 4 or 5 degrees C too high but in the colder weather it has been accurate, will just have to see what it is like once the temps get into double figures.

Is the weather cold?

The air temperature can affect fuel consumption. You will use quite a bit more fuel in cold weather.
