It's just kind-a personal preference I guess. I've always liked my vehicles/motorcycles/motorhomes/boats etc. clean. I use them, get them seriously dirty, and all that. I don't do mud, I HATE MUD! I don't have any issues at all washing and wiping my A/T down on a periodic basis. It gives me a chance to look at/inspect things up close. Stuff can begin to vibrate and loosen (although the A/T engine is phenomenally smooth), check items for wear, check for this and that and just make sure nothing's gonna fall off either on or off road, if I have anything to do with it. It just doesn't take that much time. But, to each his own, as they say.
