The bike comes with an immobiliser and, like most bikes, you can fit an alarm if you want one.

The UK accessory document lists two alarms - a Spyball one for £190 and an Averto one for £535.

Anyone going to fit one?

Anyone know anything about the two that Honda supplies? You'd imagine the more expensive one must ride the bike back to you for that price...

Personally, I wouldn't bother with anything more than a motion activated alarm. Better still, use one built into a lock so if it starts going off uncontrollably you can toss it and let the binmen deal with the racket. It has HISS which means that without a key it's only useful as scrap unless a new ECU is found so the kind of person who'd nick it isn't going to be deterred by a harsh screeching (easily handled with a blanket, some expanding foam or a sharp screwdriver).

I've had an alarm in my previous bike (HD XL883R) and the funny thing is that when I sold it and buyer put it into a van alarm went off. I didn't hear it! Bike was in the van I was standing next to it and did not hear an alarm. Stolen bikes are usually put into a van so what is a point of an alarm?

But I was forced to buy Honda's alarm any way - it was needed for insurance. I was said in dealership that both alarm systems they offer have exact the same functionality, they only come from different manufacturers and he suggest the cheaper one.

Scorpio Alarms - CRF1000 Alarm Connector

Greetings, Scorpio Alarms here.

We have been working hard on expanding our current lineup and we need your help!

Recently, we have created a Plug & Play installation harness that will allow for a simple installation of either our SR-i800 and SR-i900 alarm systems. This connector kit will plug right into your factory harness' Accessory Port (under the rear passenger seat).

The help we need from you is:
We provide a GPS Tracking/Cellular Notification System for all bikes that features a simple 3 wire installation. While it's as easy as battery positive, negative, and switched power, we do have the ability to customize the SR series' OEM connector to work with Ride.

Would this interest the Africa Twin community at all?

Feel free to leave us feedback, questions, comments, and concerns!

Thank you!

Datatool

Datatool have an excellent reputation. For bikes already fitted with an immobilizer (such as HISS on the AT) go for the S4 Green. Automatic arming if you forget, arm without movement sensor when working on the bike, deactivate for long term storage, panic alarm etc. Mine was dealer fitted so I cant say how easy or hard it is to self fit.

Sorry about the confusion of the last post, let me see if I can help clarify.

We were trying to state that we have currently created, and posted for sale on our website a plug and play harness to work with our SR-I800, and SR-I900 alarm systems.

Here is the question
We are reaching out to this forum, to see if there is any interest in a plug and play connector for our Ride Core-S (instant notification/gps tracking) system?

The only issue with Datatool Green (to upgrade to Cat1 for insurance!) is that the indicators (LED) will not flash to indicate activation or deactivation AND if the bike is stolen again the indicators don’t flash, the siren is good enough but no visible signs that the alarm is on or off, which is a real pain! Had I known this I would not have selected the Datatool Alarm!

I've only ever bought one bike that came with an alarm, I ripped it out and binned it. Utter waste of time. Everyone ignores them, bike already has an immobiliser and it's more likely to not start with one fitted.
Yeah, sure, save £20 on your insurance. Wow. The alarm cost 10x that! Pointless.....
