Greetings,

Long story short, I wrecked my FJR1300 last June...and beat the crap out of me too. After I healed up, I farkled my '07 KLR650 for adventure riding. However, before I can make the switch, I'll need to finish my doctoral studies (Summer of 2017). Once education is complete I'm looking at a new Africa Twin. Riding buddy traded his Concours for a Triumph Explorer and has tried to convert me as well, but I find the KLR is so much more manageable off road when compared to the Explorer. Research indicates the AT would be a great balance between the two.

Looking forward to learning from everyone's experiences.

Peace

I have a KLR and have found the AT to be much better on gravel, two track, single track. Better balanced, better suspension, better power. The AT does carry more weight but not as top heavy feeling as the KLR. I will keep my klr for now till I decide I don't need it. Just got a KLX 250 as well and that handles sweet on two and single track but greatly lacking in power.
