Is this forum owned by Honda or something? I have just had one thread moved and 2 posts deleted. And it feels like it was because I was expressing my dissatisfaction with the issues I have had with my bike. Please can one of the staff members tell me whats going on?
My 2018 ATAS with just over 7K miles experienced loss of power on the Interstate. Riding 780 mile day and the last 130 miles were in 10-15 mile increments. If I pulled over to the emergency lane, let the bike sit for a moment, maybe open the tank, it would start right up and be good for 15...
Hi, I just picked up my new (old stock) 2018 ATAS manual from the dealers (I'm in the UK) yesterday and I absolutely love the bike. I have done 200 miles on it and It looks amazing, it has plenty of power, the brakes and the handling are good for this kind of bike and it is very comfortable. Now...
So I was washing my bike (2018 ATAS 3100 Miles) today and when jet washing off the Muc Off the paint on the frame down the front of the bike started coming off. Has anyone else had this? is it a known problem and will Honda Fix it? The Bike is still under warranty for another 6 months. Any...
Hello everyone, I just picked up a new 2019 ATAS for an amazing deal last week. I absolutely love the bike so far and am almost through the break in period. I've been wiping it down with a damp microfiber every couple of days and have noticed some paint chipping on the frame near the swingarm...
Hi all, picking up my new 19 next week I have read reports of some corrosion issues with the cfl. On my other bikes I give them a coat of acf50 is there particular areas to pay extra attention to?
Just a heads up, I've got my 9 week old ATAS stripped down to fit driving lamps and found rust under the fuel tank. Its just surface rust round the tank hangar mounts and easily remedied but at 9 weeks old it really shouldn't be happening. I've given it a coat of Crust rust treatment and...
Hello, Let's start from the start. I ride and love my 2018 ATAS- it's one super bike, but I had some weird behavior happen last week. We were leaving network of trails and I had about less than a gallon of fuel left in the tank. We pull to the main road and I hit the throttle in second gear...
So about a week and a half ago I bought a brand new old stock 2018 Africa twin adventure sports. I had owned the bike for 2 days and was absolutely loving the bike, when I started to notice some pretty serious defects with the quality of the paint finish, and more importantly the welds on the...
Hello everyone, Im on my third AT and this time a 2019 big adventure. Just found a big issue with the white frame. Paint is chipping of in small chunks (3 different spots and counting). Got in touch with HONDA Portugal and they say that they will fix by repainting these areas. I answered that...
And no, the posts that were deleted were where you were making unfounded claims about "censorship" because a thread was moved into a subforum without even taking the time to ask anyone why. The thread complaining about Honda and how they treat their customers of course still exists.
Sorry for going off half cocked and over reacting. I would appreciate it if my thread was put back in the main forum where more people are likely to see it and hopefully avoid the mistakes I made when purchasing my bike.
People are free to share negative experiences on the forum. I just read some in the "Are you happy with your AT?" thread and they've not been removed.
The forum is made up of other AT owners who benefit from a wide range of views, especially negative experiences. Honda has no official representative here and the site is sponsored by its premium membership base.
Your post concerns Bodywork and Paint and that's likely why it was moved into Bodywork and Paint.
Naturally, each of the subforums see less traffic than the General section as they pertain to less general issues... but the topic threads are no less relevant or more difficult to access. I imagine most people search keywords and sort by "new" anyway.
If the forum did engage in censorship, moving topics to the appropriate subforum would be a very poor way to do it.
Yes. We have a lot of threads on here that are full of negative experiences. One dealing with the fueling issues was recently merged in a "mega thread" because we had at least a dozen different threads all dealing with the same issue and it was getting confusing to keep track of them all. But many including myself have been very vocal critics of Honda and how they are treating a serious safety issue.
There has been some "housekeeping" of threads, such as combing that "mega thread" and @HatNeil 's post likely got caught up in that. But man, it is hard to even have a look at it when there is thread after thread about censorship popping up rather than just a simple PM.
A simpler solution would have been a PM asking "Hey man, why was my thread moved, could you have a look at it for me?"
BTW: The links posted above are only from the first 10 pages of the general forum. I could make a "Complaints about Honda and the Africa Twin Mega Thread" if I combined them all LOL
I think any chance of the dealership changing their stance is basicly zero. They are backed up by Honda UK after all, and Honda UK don't give a toss either.

We are still just out of the savana with a good shave. Our social skills are pretty good when we are face to face, but on forums online, ettiquet and behaviour is still quite hit and miss. Many Fubars going on. Me included.
I am glad the mod are not banning you or something extreme like that.
I am sure there are days that any one of us would have overreacted like that!
grab a beer and take it easy.
But I agree about your topic, I remember reading about it some time ago and immediately going out to check my welds and paint work.
I have a black bike so harder to see.
But mine all seems OK, and I have given it a beating as well. All holding together.
I agree the images you shared were pretty **** welding and painting.
Must have been a right fridays afternoon special there mate!
Word of warning to others, fight the giddy feeling of leaving the garage with your new bike and give a good critical eye over all different parts and dont be shy to corner the sales guy and say "what is this", or "why is this like this", ......
Yeah... there was one about boots that also ended up in body and appearance as well. That would only even make partial sense if it was about the appearance of the boots? ¯\ツ/¯
Maybe slightly off topic, but I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this forum. I have been a member of quite a few other car/bike forums over the years and they always seem so negative! This is the first forum I have come across where everyone is genuinely trying to help each other out with advise etc. and new riders, with basic questions, are treated just as well as the more senior members of this group.
Thanks!!
Bucky
Thanks Bradbucky! We all appreciate the kind words.
In answer to the question in whether Honda owns or has any ownership in this forum, the answer is definitely no. The forum is owned by VerticalScope, a company that develops and operates Websites, online communities, and forums in automotive, powersports, power equipment, sports, pets, and technology and is based in Toronto, Canada. VerticalScope has 800+ sites under it's umbrella, which I believe includes sites for every major brand of car and motorcycle.
The site is managed by VerticalScope employees as Admins and they are assisted by volunteer moderators. The cite is an enthusiast site, not a corporate one.
I've been blocked by honda uk 🤣🤣 as when I bought the atas dct it wasn't on the insurance database and it cost a fortune to insure when it first come out for sale they didn't like me complaining to them where everyone could see. That's 2 years ago and I'm still blocked 🤣🤣
I had a similar thing with a GS in 2012. It had nothing to do with BMW, it was down to how quickly certain insurance companies updated their records of new models...so my existing company lost me as customer.
Nothing to do with quotes the manufacturer has to give the insurance data base the model if it dosnt it's hard to get anyone to give quotes it happened to quite a few who bought the bike in the first months of its manufacture
