Why a camera on an adventure bike? I didn't realize trees moved.

 

Ooooh, we want that! Said no riders ever.

I love me some tech, but if the bike is going to brake for me, why doesn't it steer for me? Control the throttle for me? Fill up at the gas station for me? Heck, ride for me? What's the point of me riding then?

We can just buy bikes, plot out the course, and it'll come back with video and pictures showing us the great ride we (shoulda) had.

 

The only time I totaled a motorcycle was a deer, I never saw it because it was moving so fast from the trees on my left. A camera ‘might’ have helped if it detected movement at my 9:00 o’clock position before it came into my view.

 

I can see use cases for sure, but it's a slippery slope. I had a wreck myself last June when a Chevy turned left in front of me at the last millisecond. Swore up and down he never saw me - I believe him, cagers just don't look or register that we're there. Today's AI camera for breaking is tomorrow's bike with total control. Let's ask those riders' families who were killed by Teslas using AI.

Don't get me wrong, I love tech. I'm an HD owner (hoping to get my hands on an ATAS or Transalp soon!) who hates HD's culture of being luddites. That said, I think all owners should be able to choose if a feature is activated and how it works. On its face, I like the idea of this feature. I'm just not so sure I'm so thrilled with it in execution. 🤷‍♂️

 

One more expensive thing to not be covered by warranty when it breaks.

For sure! In all other aspects of my life, I'm an early adopter on nitrous! That said, when it comes to motorcycles, I'm a little bit more hesitant. When I'm out driving in the car, I see no less than 4-5 cars doing dumb things. At least that many when I'm on two wheels. I want to wait until version 2.0 or 3.0 for the bugs to be rooted out.
