My 2016 twin needs some throttle in order to start when it's cold. These are electronic ignition so I don't understand why I need to do this.
Any idea on what my be causing this ?
k ... going thru forums I have found others have same issue. Resolve seems to be cleaning or replacing the starter switch; or resetting something by opening throttle and holding starter on for 5 seconds (key off).
Will try in morning and report back to this thread....
Update on fixing my cold start problem.
Last night, over 12 hrs ago, I followed the directions of turning on key, turning off key, holding starter switch down at same time as holding throttle wide open -- for 5 seconds... The cold start issue was still there today.
I them followed the directions to remove the starter switch off of handle bars (2 screws on the backside of the switch), greasing the contact area (the area was black with carbon), and re-assembling --- problem appears to be fixed ... bike starting without touching the throttle.
I am not very mechanically inclined but this was a pretty straight forward fix (10 minutes) without having to take the bike into a dealership.
