When do Crash bars help and when does motorcycle crashes happen ❓

allright the Video are an earnest report by Outback Motortec
i think tip-over usually happens @ slow maneuvers
i am 70+ and the mussels are not the same caliber as the young man on the video 😉
So Riding alone in the middle of no where i always bring my mobile mc crane because my AT 2019 DCT are over 240 kg and actually lay completely flat on the ground. My Crash Bars are from Touratec and i doent think it have the same strength as the Oem or Motortec Bars and i do not feel like testing them like the VD from Outback Motortec does with these new ATs 🤔

I have mixed feelings about crash bars. I know protection serves a purpose but there should be a balance. I cringe watching this guy throw down these heavy beasts on the concrete. Remember the Ginsu knife... the guy abused that knife and then we all lined up to buy one. I tried lifting my AT by my self and couldn't do it. I needed someone to stand on the rear wheel before it would touch the ground. What mobile mc crane do you use? I need to get one or start taking steroids.
There’s is a technique to lifting a heavy bike which you need to understand. If followed correctly you do not need to be a big strong hulk. There’s a video on YouTube that shows a very slim woman easily lift up a large Harley. She is proof that it’s not that hard.

That very large Harley was not flat like a pancake. It was resting on its crash bars. A AT laying flat is a very heavy bike to lift up. Especially if you are in questionable terrain.

I ran the HEED bunker busters on my 2018 ATAS and those were some dang tough crash bars. They have some amazing protection. My bike when it got totaled was literally rolling and flipping and the only damage to the body of the bike was the windscreen got ripped off. The bike was totaled due to water and mud damage after being washed away during a flash flood.

To get my At back on the wheels even on a grass field for me it was impossible, so i looked around the internet to find something useful
but did not🤔 so it ended up with i made one my self in aluminum tube and pehd plastic it is light weight and handy.
Yes Honda AT are rather to top heavy especially the DCT 🤢

Yes it is the same sort thank you 👍
i think the guy on the video have inbuilt side stands both sides off on his 1200 BMW boxer 😀
I think if you're riding gravel or offroad they are a useful addition - you will drop your bike at some point, it's inevitable. I've dropped my bike several times with almost no damage (one tiny area of a scratch). As for lifting the bike after a 'get off' - having buddies along is a great help, removing all your luggage to lighten up the bike is useful, and then technique.

The AT are to top heavy to ride off road in the forest alone
so Crash Bars are needed ?
If you drive off road in the forrest then I should install crash bars. I was lucky I did I hit small tree and no damage. I have the heed bars so upper and lower protection. In Germany they have also Zieger crashbars https://www.ibex-parts.de/Fahrzeugteile/Schutz-Sicherheit/Sets.html

I'm a 67 year old amputee and cannot lift my AT using the "back to the saddle and take tiny steps" to stand it up. I actually point the front tire up and lift by the handlebars only...lets me use a squating position and not my back. I test my technique before leaving on each trip to ensure I can still do it :) .

HOWEVER, I also built myself a recovery jack out of some steel conduit, connectors, a rachet strap, and a big wad of JB Weld. Weights about 8 lbs and fits in a small bag. (about 50 bucks in parts instead of one at $200 on the internet). When I can no longer lift it, I'll start taking that with me!

I also have altrider crashbars all the way around, so it doesn't lay QUITE flat.
1100 atas is so light compared 850 gs, i can lift very very easily, and crash bar is a must, i have one and always save me from getting scratchs
