Honda themselves have officially confirmed that the CRF1000L Africa Twin will be launched first in the European market at the end of this year.

Honda’s president Takahiro Hachigo has stated: “In the area of motorcycle operations, we will introduce the CRF1000L, a dual purpose model, to European markets at the end of 2015 and then in Japan and North America.”

There's isn't a specific date but we now have a general idea of when it will be release in Europe and maybe estimate how much longer the rest of the world has to wait.

After analyzing the market they probably deemed it necessary to target the euro market first. Competition is another thing that could be pushing them big time.

How popular are ADVs in Japan? I can't imagine it being a larger market than North America.

Honda was founded in Japan so I'm not surprised that they're releasing it there before North America.
They also have amazing twisty roads to ride on.
