On my first ride home from the dealer after purchasing my ATAS my heated grips stopped working and I get an E3 error message. Manual says only “see your dealer as soon as possible if E1,E2 or E3. Anyone know what that error code is? Not a good start to have something stop working on your way home from purchase. Not to mention my dealer is nearly 50!miles away.

Looks like your dealer messed up the installation.
From the Installation manual:

"Check for E3 status (Faulty heated grip switch) :
1. Replace the heated grip (heater switch) with a new one.
It is hard to check the switch with ordinary inspection
methods (for continuity, voltage, etc.,) because it contains
an integrated circuit.

Check for E3 status (Open circuit) :
1. Heated grip inspection.
Check for resistance between the
terminals.
Standard :
<Right> 8.2 ohms +/- 10%
<Left> 8.2 ohms +/- 10%
2. Refer to the SYSTEM DIAGRAM of this manual and check for an
open circuit in the heated grip related wires.
3. If no abnormality is found after the above checks 1 and 2, but the
heated grip still does not operate properly, replace the heated
grip (heater controller) with a new one then recheck.

Thanks for that info. The heated grips on the Adventure Sports is standard equipment from the factory. Looks like from your info the switch is bad. Guess I will have to take it in for service which sucks on a week old bike.

my 2017 standard bike gave exactly the same problem. Not the dealers fault as it worked for half an hour. They swapped them for new ones at the 500 service and all seemed fine for half an hour then the same happened. Took a long time to get credit from Honda so I could buy Kosos which the dealer installed. These have been OK but don't really give enough heat.
