I have the genuine Honda fairing/ tank crash bar fitted. Are there any lower engine protection bars that will fit happily with them? All the makes I've seen seem to use the same mounting points!

Why not put a larger bash plate on that will do the same thing and less likely to catch your ankle in a crash because a bash plate sits lower than the crash bars.
B & B offroad have one and Rugged Roads are just finishing one to work with a range of bars including stock.
The bike will then slide on the Upper crash bars and the lower bash plate it will weigh less (than lower crash bars) and be less likely to pin your leg under the bike.

I'm waiting to order a bash plate from Rugged Roads. I'm more worried about damaging the engine cases on rocks if I drop it when trail riding, not so much sliding down the road.

Engine damage by rocks. Defintively the accessories of Honda are not enough.

Going to have to go with engine crash bars, aftermarket bash plate, sliders, everything under the sun. Wouldn't want that to happen.

I think the RR plate will stick out the side far enough to protect the side covers from a drop, the crashes so far have shown the B&B ones do the job of case protection even in a big get off.

Keep the opinions coming - good and bad. One of the main principles of a forum is to get peoples' views be they positive or negative. We can't learn much if we merely go looking for affirmation bias.

I know absolutely nothing about off-road riding so your views, and everybody else's, are really valuable to me.

Well......it is like anything else, you tip it over, rub, crash or subject it to some abuse and anything goes.

Side crash guards/skid plate.....CHECK!
