As someone new to this forum, it is comforting that there appear to be no posts relating to major engine or crankshaft repairs, which is good. While the AT is not that long in the tooth, I note there are a couple of references online from what appear to be Honda technicians that mention crankshaft bearing failure and a possible TSB from Honda on the issue. At a risk of stating the blinding obvious that proper servicing and correct oil is fundamental to engine life, I am curious if anyone has experienced major engine repairs (crank bearings etc) and if so, are there any prevention lessons for us?

Regards all.

My 2016 has over 16,000 miles and no repairs of any kind needed. The bike has been flawless.

There is a 2006 bike in Austria that has done over 125,000 miles and he says he has done nothing to the bike aside from normal servicing. only one oil top-up needed in all that time.. in the first few months. only problems have been minor and to do with handlebar switches.

His mechanic reckons he will always be poor as a Honda tech and regrets he didn't specialise in KTMs

I bought my AT last year and had just put 3,000 miles on it when I noticed an oil leak, It turned out to be a leak around the STATOR wire Grommet. It was under factory warrenty so it was fixed quick and Im back on the road. other then that, this bike is a beast.

Put just over 17000km over the last year. Just got the wheels replaced under warrenty. No other issues, except the hand guard bracket bolt I over tightened & shredded & cost me €18 delivered.,
