EZCan & Eastern Beaver PC8: which is better or maybe do both?

My understanding is the PC8 is more or less an extra fuse block to add relatively simple and largely ignition switched on/off Accessories.

Where as the EZCAN is more so if you need finer control like dimmable fog/spot lights.

Is this essentially the difference?

Does any run both of these on the same bike? Would there ever be any realistic need or benefits to doing so?

To answer your question. Yes. I have the Denali rebranded EZCAN. It's a rather expensive way to connect lights and in my case a GPS. But it comes with advantages. The ability to set the brightness in 10% increments and change with high beams is a real plus. Not needing mount an additional switch makes for a very clean install. The Denali comes with two 5.5' cables that I cut in half and re-terminated to eliminate the excess wire. The hardest part was fishing the supply cables to the battery. The only reason to have both an EZCAN and a PC8 would be if you needed more than four circuits.

ezCAN is more than just connecting lights and as has been said it means no additional switches required as it watches the CANbus and acts on what it sees, so lights it can do all sorts such as changing brightness with main/low/day/night, go off on side of indicating if turning, strobe on horn or flashing main beam etc. Brake lights can be fitted, additional indicators, Horn etc and all working without additional switches or chopping wiring. Heated gear can be connected and it looks at the heated grips settings to adjust the temperature which you can set to what % you want for each of the grips 5 settings, SatNav/Camera etc can be connected and a delay set for switch off etc.

4 channels is max and you can quickly run out depending on what you have connected and how you use but you can daisy chain ezCANs to get more channels but that could get expensive although for me the simple integration without chopping wires or adding switches plus the configurability is the reason I took the ezCAN route.

Okay, I’ve been following this thread; where is the best place with a fair price and good customer service to purchase the EZ-CAN from?

I just put a PC8 on my bike and love it. Pretty easy install and convenient for mounting accessories. The ATs battery compartment is terrible.

I bought direct from Hex, never needed support so can't say from personal experience but from the few people that have mentioned support it seems most often the place they purchased from gets in contact with Hex (if they don't know the answer) and then relays the info back.

I have the PC8 that I am planning to put in this weekend along with a Brake light flasher unit.

Eventually I want to get some Denali lights, but that will probably be a bit down the road.

Otherwise I don't have much PLANNED for other electrical accessories.

I just saw a lot of people doing EZCANs and was worried I might have gone the wrong direction

Actually considering the cost differential, dojng the PC8 first would be good to see if maybe that’s all you need. The EZCan is not cheap so testing the waters until you decide if you even need the features of the EZCAN.

If you do the lights the EZCAN is worth it.

I went with Ez can too. Very Happy. As a matter of fact, before got the bike, was stock piling accesories, and purchased a Eastern Beaver 4 Ckts. Later decided fort the Ezcan and D4s Denalis combo, and now I have the EB 4 Ckts as a surplus.
Later on the road will install additional rear brake.
For now, I use 2 outputs for LH and RH D4's.
This way can dim the led when turning.

Eastern Beaver seriously needs to work on their install instructions. What they provide is actually worse than useless. I was trying to pre-read on the process while traveling this weekend, and that was useless.

All their video links to installs are dead/defunct.

A few labels on the wires, a couple basic pictures, is that too much to ask for?

It's enough to make me really regret going with them in the first place.
