Hi guys,
at the end I fall and I have installed a fork tunnel wind deflector... I read the post here in the forum and at the end I tried a generic one from AliExpress (I think they are more or less clones of the mainstream products):

It looks good - no chance to take a spin with the deflector mounted... some real riding opinion will follow but I have a "new owner" (so worried for everything) question :

I have checked the handlebar movement full lock left and right to be sure everything was ok and on the left side I have this and everything looks by the book - nothing touching or close:

On the right side I have this cable (green circle) that is out of the closer cable tie and that touches the plastic - then slide up on it - in the last 5-10 degree or movement to the right when going full lock:

I did not feel any resistance but I was guessing if it may cause some harms... (I know it sound silly and we are talking of less an inch of movement...)

Is this cable in the green circle usually "free" as in my bike or inside the cable tie (orange circle) in your ATs? If it's in the cable tie what is the correct way to open these zipper without braking them?

In the same order I also put a lateral stand extension... the mounting hardware was pretty S##t (the mounting screws were like butter and very easy to bend) but it was quite cheap... I am still judging if I found it useful (at least at this quality level)

Sorry for the dumb questions - I have dreamed this bikes for such a long time and my mechanical/manual skills are really rusty so I prefer to ask :giggle:.

cheers

I have a tunnel defector also on my 2021 ATAS and at full lock right, it hits like your bike does. I may consider either a tape reinforcement just in the area around the cables that make contact where it rubs against the cable. Just as a precaution. Second option would be to barely trim the deflector with a dremel tool to stop the contact. It's not an impairment for steering but after many repeated contacts, it might wear a spot in the cable covering. Probably go the tape route.

To release these types of clips I just push the upper part one way whilst holding the lower part. Another way would be to lift the front of the upper part so that it clears the lower but I find the first way I mentioned is often the easiest.

The thing is though, well a couple of things. First I am talking CRF1100 rather than 1000, next is fork tunnel works for some but not for others so the side deflectors may well be the same. One thing I will say though, certainly on the CRF1100, the side deflectors improve the appearance in my opinion so that was worth it alone :D

@Battle_bulge,

The windflow is not only coming from the gap at the fork it will reduce a little bit but you can feel the effect if you put one hand on the tunnel and feel or there is a lot of pressure. Another thing is the upright position of the steer the standard factory setting is not good for bigger people if they want stand on the bike. The angle of the arms to the body could give also more windflow problems if that is not right. I changed mine steer a little bit up and have installed 2 ear from ali express (looks like the givi ears) and these work for me very good. I removed the forkshield and it was still good. The helmet is also important like lupolee mentioned. The most important thing is that you don,t have buffeting on your head because that makes you crazy.

Agreed. I think it's inevitable that the wind is going to hit somewhere but I think it's dangerous around the head and helmet area for obvious reasons. I've concentrated on reducing the disturbance around my head ..which I think I've succeeded in doing. If I want no wind at all I'll get in my car or stay indoors. It's a bike after all and wind is all around us. Some interesting points from everybody which I am grateful for so please don't think I'm looking for an argument... and my solution is not for everybody. If my head is in clear air then I can think ahead and ride my bike without trying to mentally compensate for the buffeting which accompanies high speed travel. A safer ride.

I've read some nightmare stories of riders with blurred vision, headaches etc, from buffeting and I don't think that they should be riding if the bike induces such interference to their cognitive abilities.
