Not bad - 60mpg in old money (UK) or 50mpg (US) I think.

Might drop when you start thrashing it a bit more...

 

First coupl of weeks commuting

Couple of weeks commuting has given 210miles indicated from the tank.
Both weeks approx same.
Mixture of daily dual carriageways, filtering, country lanes.
Not ran it till empty, lose all the bars until it flashes and got down to 20miles left in tank before I bottled it and refuelled.
Kept it around 4k revs tops to run it in (probably not required).

Didn't think that fuel economy was really much of a concern for people in the market for this kind of bike.

 

Maybe not, but it is interesting to know how far you can get on a full tank.
Especially when you ride the smaller roads & off the road.

 

I don't know about that... I'm going to be commuting to work on it, so fuel economy is nice. But I'm also going to be taking long trips in remote places on it, so fuel economy is also nice there in order to maximize tank range.

 

I was thinking that range is more important, and then fuel economy is important as a factor in that.

 

Yes! 58 MPG sounds good to me . I rarely see that with my KLR. Look, the size of the tank is a fixed capacity. The fuel consumption is very important to me. I ride places like the Trans Labrador Highway and the Dalton highway to Produe Bay, Alaska. It is 240 miles to the next gas. The differance between 50 mpg and 58 mpg could make you a hitch hiker. Just sayin.

 

I have done the first 1000, drove very smooth and carefull (neighter too high nor too low RPM, no short rides, no hard acceleration) and end up at about 5,2 l / 100 km average consumption. The cold over here might have influence on the fuel/ air mix, but it's not that positive as promised by Honda. On the other hand, it is absolutely no issue to me.

No, no, didn't do any maths untill now. I read it on the dashboard....

 

I have ridden 2000km now. I guess just like Bart in the Belgian moderately cold weather.
Today I have riden 345km and board computer gave me a 5,7l (which I found a bit dissapointing). I filled my baby up with exactly 18l. 18l/3,45(00km) is 5,2l/100km. This is the second time that the board computer consumption is higher than real consumption.

I rode the 345km today at highwayspeeds betwee 125 and 135 km/h.

I hope the consumtion will still descend in near future!

 

Some bikes seem to get better fuel economy as they get broken in. My 2005 VFR was awful to start - low 30 mpg. It got better and better until 50,000 kilometres then I was consistently getting 40-45mpg (5.4 - 5.5 l/100km).

 

As I only have a bike and no car, fuel consumption is a issue for me. I hope I'll dive under 5l/100.

I wrote something in your heated-grip-thread. Mine don't work at all. At level 5 I had cold hands this morning while it was 5°C. Will complain about it Friday at the dealer.

 

Please do. Honda has to solve this. I consider contacting Honda Belgium too. Let's keep each other informed.

Thanks guys, these real world fuel consumption numbers are what I am looking for. It is about 45 mpg, not great but your speed 125-135 kph is higher than any speed I would travel in the remote areas. At a slower speed I might beat 50 mpg. By the way your system of measuring liters/100 miles is just so wrong. LOL. Here is a picture from the Trans Labrador Highway.

 

Love that photo. It's something that we dwellers in small and crowded northern Europe take for granted - we have petrol readily to hand in most places. My last bike (2004 R1) did around 120 to a tank I seem to remember - I'm hoping for more than that at least!

 

I don't think that the AT will get me 300 km with a full fuel tank ,
Maybe after when she is broken in , I am going to try her out until the last drop ( with a reserve canister of 2 litres) on board,:frown2:

 

On a 230 miles ride Sunday Ave mpg was 48.3 mpg (UK).

Still running in but not hanging about, I didnt buy the bike to win any "most miles done on a thimble of petrol competition."

If I was worried i was going to run out i would but it in D-mode and stick to 60mph, but I dont intend to ride it like that.

 

I'm getting 47MPG but on a recent motorway run ( I was in a bit of a hurry) it only did 36MPG!.

 

After 1200 miles of various riding my computer is saying 10.4 miles/litre, or 47 mpg

249.5 miles and 1.7 litres left which when I filled up wasn't far off.

50 miles of this was at an indicated 90mph two-up and with a pair of Touratech Zega panniers.

 

That's 400kms + on a tank. Sweet!

1200mile trip last weekend to Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone. Mostly fast A roads and motorway, mostly at speeds of 75-90mph. 11.1 miles per litre, just over 50mpg. Very happy with that.

 

I've done over 5,500 miles on my DCT AT, And a few weeks ago I reset my B trip meter,

So, 2,629.7 miles and the average fuel consumption is 63.0 mpg, not bad, I'm very pleased with that, all A and B roads no motorway riding, and I don't hang about, Just waiting for a new set of tyres, lol
I decided to have an interim oil and filter change last week , keeps me happy:wink2:
