I would have thought it was the fuel tank issue since that also affected the 2020 ATAS models, but if the dealership really did the warranty work properly, then surely there isn't enough build up after a day to make the issue not only repeat but come back worse.I just got it to start for a few seconds but all of the electronics are working fine, including the tail lights. I’m stranded on the side of the road now as it won’t even idle.
Man, that sounds like it might be the case. Now I’m looking at paying for a 30 mile tow because it won’t even start. I had the 2018, and had the same issue with the fuel pump, and I’m livid they didn’t fix the issue for the 2020.I would have thought it was the fuel tank issue since that also affected the 2020 ATAS models, but if the dealership really did the warranty work properly, then surely there isn't enough build up after a day to make the issue not only repeat but come back worse.
Unless... Honda used to replace both injectors. The first 2 times mine was in pre-recall they scrubbed the tank, replaced the fuel pump and both injectors. However the recall only calls for scrubbing the tank and replacing the pump. It is maybe possible debris made it past the filter and clogged the injectors?
I know my dealership had to fight with Honda on the second round of the injector replacements. Honda said it wasn't necessary, my dealer insisted that it was and got it done.
I hear ya. Mine is 2019, but it has been in 3 times now including the recall and I was hoping Honda would have a better solution than what amounts to less than the work they did the previous 2 times. I have the extended warranty with roadside, but I wonder if you still have issues following their "recall fix" if you could claim reimbursement from Honda on the towing fee or have it covered by their roadside even if you don't currently have their roadside.Man, that sounds like it might be the case. I got super lucky in that I actually had coverage from my insurance, so now I’m just waiting on a tow truck. I wonder if I can get them to replace the tank if this is going to be an ongoing issue. I called the mechanic that did the previous repair and he said they removed a ton of debris out of the tank and even did it a second time because there was so much. I’m worried about ongoing issues so I think I’ll definitely have to extend the warranty. Really disappointing to experience this from a new bike when they already knew there was an issue. I can’t imagine the amount of bogging and chocking the engine has been through just to get to this point. Thanks for the input!I hear ya. You make a good point with updating NHTSA if the warranty "fix" did not solve the issue. I know the warranty guy at my dealership is skeptical. If bikes are still having issues, Honda needs to go a step further.Sorry to hear of your issues leaving you stranded. If there is more debris in the tank, Honda should be replacing the full fuel pump assembly this time, including fuel pump and injectors. I would definitely install a Guglatech filter sock as well and be sure to let the NHTSA know your post recall results with still having issues. Hope you're back on the road soon.![]()
Me too. I have already had a few conversations with American Honda. I am sure they would love to hear from me againThat is a terrible experience @Impulsivetraveler. Nothing really to do but to be on Honda's case, at least I would be.
First it sucks that you're dealing with it but that said mine did not show up like yours. I went from everything being great to it bogging down in a matter of an 1/8 of a mile. Once it started happening I could get it to run under 200 rpms but as soon as i twisted past that out would bog again. I had already talked to my dealer about getting the recall done but I read about the Guglatec on here and decided that was what I was going to do. My dealer installed my guglatec sock and filter (cost $85.00) instead of the Honda filter. I've ridden 700+ mi since then with no issues. The only way you could have a problem with the sick filter is if the tank was full of crap and your fuel level was low. The quality difference between the Honda and Guglatec unfortunate because Honda used to be the company that embarrassed others with their quality, that's not the case here. Good luck to you.Hey guys, I have a 2020 ATAS DCT and I’m currently on a cross-country trip. I started to have what I assume to be the fuel pump/ fuel tank issues with loss of power and bogging at around 4K miles. The problem is intermittent, and can sometimes resolve itself after the bike is turned off for a few hours, but will start back up again. It got so bad it almost became undrivable. I took it into a Honda Dealership for repair, they went through the recall procedure and got me back on the road after a few days. It ran perfect for 1 day, and now I’m back in the exact situation, but it’s actually worse. I got stranded on the highway for a while, and I’m near Daytona so all the shops are loaded for bike week. I wanted to post a few videos of how the bike is running and see if you guys think that this is the issue I’m having or if it could be something else. I’d appreciate the feedback. Thanks in advance. https://youtu.be/Bw3WuL43t88
It frustrates me that in this day and age, it’s not easier to manage your way through warranty and mechanical issues related to a product you’ve purchased especially if you consider it a high quality marque as I do in a Honda. I had similar and dangerous issues of mine stalling, cutting out etc just the same. I realised it wasn’t rider error and contacted the selling dealer, who said if it’s not an issue already recognised by Honda then we’ll need to raise a job card and you’ll have to pay for investigation at $110/hr, WTH? Yet I t was still under warranty. Anyhow, about 8 weeks ago now I get a letter from Honda and you guessed it, arrange with your dealer for fuel tank warranty issue to be repaired and states can cause accidents or death? When I booked the bike in, I experienced disbelief from a newly employed service advisor that the above was true, telling me if you had the issue you speak of, then Honda would of been aware of it? No matter the cost of a new purchase these days you are hung out to dry when it suits. Sounds cynical but true in my experience, so I’m done buying new stuff.Hey guys, I have a 2020 ATAS DCT and I’m currently on a cross-country trip.
