xsilvergs & Davey out of interest why did you both come away from the big KTM's I was looking at the 1190 adventure r model before deciding on the AT, but I never got to test ride one as my dealer didn't have a demo 1190 r in stock. Also my budget only allowed me £11000 max so it would have been a used probably 2 year old one. I'm happy with my choice but wondered what I could have been missing! let us have your reasoning if you would be so kind.
HI Dibbs, I rode one (1190R) and felt is was supper exiting and felt like it was just a bit over the top ..... and felt huge !. A very nice bike though . I had a 990 for 3 years and actually preferred that in the dirt . The buffeting on hi way speeds was a pain with the 990 though .
I am buying the AT because it is slimmer and feels lighter . (and I am a huge Honda fan ) . Bikes are always such an emotional buy , and each guy is swayed to his choice through personal experiences with brands , his mates , what he has had fun on in the past ??? etc etc .

Why I sold my 1190 KTM (roadie) for a AT.
The AT will never excite like the KTM will.
The AT will never handle as well as the KTM on tarmac.
I could never ride the KTM around the world but I'm sure I could the AT.
How many KTM dealers are the on your typical holiday route?
Can you ride an 1190 to it's full potential all day?
The AT's ride comfort is superior to the KTM in my mind.
One speck of dirt in the KTM's fly by wire throttle mechanism may spoil your day, it takes a while to get the tank off and you'll want it to be empty.
Early models have a weak starter, the bike can boil you alive, ride it hard in the Alps and there'll be fuel spewing out of the breather as the fuel boils in the tank.
The air filter doesn't.

Like that colour
Awesome look - I'm not sure which color I would have chosen or like better. I'm still really happy with my rally red/wht/blk concept. The black is way cool! I would definitely keep the accessories all in black - everything blacked out including your gear. Thanks for sharing...
