Holy ****, it looks like they might be stepping up to the plate to deal with the issue. I can't read any of that... but it looks promising. Thank you TETSUHIRO for bringing this forward.

"Due to improper foreign matter management methods when manufacturing fuel tanks, some oxides generated inside the tank during welding may be adsorbed on the suction filter of the fuel pump. Therefore, the filter may become clogged, causing the engine to malfunction, and in the worst case, the engine may stall while driving."

Great news!

I presume when they replace the filters this also means they're gonna clean the tank before the new filters are installed right? I wonder why a fuelpump swap isn't included. By looking at the pump from the outside you can't tell if it's already contaminated also.

This recall-action, does it also count for bikes that out of their 2yr warranty period?

I had a whole 60 miles on my '19 ATAS before the fuel pump failed due to crap in the tank! I only got to ride it one time!! Second morning of ownership it wouldn't start. Honda took care of it by cleaning the tank and replacing the fuel pump, likely what they will be doing on all the bikes. I think each and every 18 and 19 ATAS will be covered. The dealer told me that this problem will be covered from now on because of the warranty claim, but I'm not absolutely certain what "from now on" actually means.

I have AtAS 2019 imported from Japan
but i live in Dubai
is it covered by this recall (free) or should i pay?
You would have to check you VIN to the ones listed, but my guess would be, yes it will be covered. You might have to wait until the recall is more well known to the dealerships though.

This recall just went live today/yesterday (Dec. 18th) in Japan. As far as I know no other countries have released any information about the recall. We will all have to be patient, it will trickle out of Japan soon enough.

I have just learned (thanks to advrider.com) that the Canadian recall went live Friday. You can check your vin at the Honda Canada Motorcycle Recall site Honda Motorcycle.

My bike is included. No documents are posted yet. Dealers will be aware shortly.

Recalls generally apply to all applicable vehicles included in the recall regardless of warranty status. I wonder if they fixed this at some point for if it applies to all 2020's. I'm looking for a new ATAS in Spring, not sure if I should go with the 2020 or the 2021. There doesn't seem to be much advantage to the 2021 other than, hopefully, no recall. With the 2021 you loose the gold rims and get black (I think) and, you'd loose the Honda Rebate.
