Installed AA wireless and Quadlock wireless charger !

Hi Dan Thanks for all of that information, really useful. I am just about to go down the same route as you and found this post. have iPhone 12 and fed up with cabled Car-play as A. It’s a pain to have to plug in every ride and B. I need a special case that is not really designed for iPhone12 but it keeps the connector dry. The smallest bit of moisture in the lighting connector made it sulk and stop charging the phone and I’d lose navigation on the ATAS screen. Have just ordered a carlinkit 5.0 as my wireless adapter and about to order quad lock wireless charger. I was planning on hiding USB splitter inside the fairing along with the carlinkit so that I could power both as the quad lock wireless charger as you pointed out requires 5V and not 12V. Has anyone else we had success with that configuration? I ask because the quad lock says it requires 2A supply and the ATAS manual says that the USB socket is only rated to 1.5A so that plus the carlinkit may blow the fuse. Or hopefully it might just charge the phone a bit slower! I guess I just need to try and see. Not keen on cutting existing cables and adding 12V to 5V converter unless I really have to. Thanks Ian

Thanks Dan

On further research there is a spare 12v aux socket inside the front fairing . Quad lock also do a waterproof 12v to 5v converter, that in combination with a spare Africa twin cable with a plug to fit into the spare socket inside the fairing should do what I want without losing the 12v socket ( I use it for tyre inflator). I’ll report back when all of the bits have arrived as to my success.

Oh great info I didn't know that about a spare 12v aux spare 👍. Let me know if you find a good source of the sumito something connectors. That makes sense to keep the socket for your tire inflator.
Well don’t quote me on the 12v aux spare socket in the front fairing. I have a 2020 crf1100A4-L and all the videos I have watched seem to be for other variations! See image. I have stripped it down as far as I dare. So think I am going to fit the 2air wireless adapter in the big gap in the front. That at least worked like a charm. I am going to place the quad lock wireless charging 12v to 5v power adapter under the seat. However it comes with battery connectors which is fine except it has a switch that says on off or auto. Auto sounded great as I assumed it would power on and off with ignition but the box has a warning to say that in Auto mode the device will remain on after the engine has been shut-off until the battery voltage drops below 12.5V. Which doesn’t sound ideal but as long as I don’t have a phone attached to the wireless adapter I’m sure the 12v-5v adapter must use very little power. Will have to try and not use the bike for at least a week to check it’s not going to be an issue. If I am lucky I might find a genuine 12v aux connector under the seat, then I can set the adapter to ‘on’ 😀

Thanks a lot 🙌 I might just get them and solder it in so I get the accessory socket hot again. 🙂
The best solution! I just couldn't find the sumitomo other than in the US so that was too troublesome getting it here to Denmark. Thanks for sharing.
Hi again

well all up and running and bike back in one piece! The wireless charging and wireless Carplay seem to work well. Temporarily powering directly of the battery. Wish I’d looked under the seat originally as I have found this connector. It’s 6 pins and two of them have 12v on them so just need to identify the connector and purchase a mating one.
Dan I now have two spare 2 pin sumitomo connectors with tails, 1 male, one female, I’d be happy to post them to you in Denmark 😀

Cool 😎 and Thanks a bunch for offering sending your spare sumitomo connectors 🤘 but not sure it's worth it with the tax hawks here attacking anything coming from outside EU. I used to buy loads of stuff from the UK ebay and so before. 😑.
Hi Dan

I get more stupid as I get older! Turns out the quad lock wireless charger has an off/off button underneath it! So it can completely powered down! So I can leave it connected to the battery.

Worst thing we ever did was to leave Europe 🤦

Thanks for your support. 😀
