Based on talks with Honda dealers and Honda Canada reps that I've had , unless you placed a deposit on one back in January or February , the limited numbers coming in the first wave are already spoken for. I paid my deposit back on Feb 10th with a Powerhouse sized dealer, and am being told it 'should' arrive by the end of May. He said some dealers he knew took deposits on 3 or 4 bikes, and sent orders to Honda Canada , only to be told they weren't getting any because they weren't high volume dealers.

We'll see.

Slow is an understatement. The AT has been on Honda's website since last winter. There are no accessories listed for the bike on the web site at this time but there are installation instructions so they should be coming. I ordered one Jan 24 (with deposit) from a Powerhouse dealer and was told the end of May so that supports previous statement.

Yup... I believe I ordered the last one in Canada last Tuesday. The dealer here in Montreal is the biggest in Quebec called Honda when I was in his office to check delivery. He quoted the same time.

I don't know if it's actually a hold up. I think they staggered the releases for shipping and to deliver in volume. The dealer here has said May delivery since the beginning. Remains to be seen if the 'shortage' is actually true or not. He seemed to think that was a just a rumour and the bikes that were ordered by deposit would arrive without an issue. Another month or so and I guess we'll know.

My dealer was telling me that Honda want to fill up the supply chain before the bikes are delivered.
That Might have been in response to me asking what I would do if the thing konked out on me on the TAT.

I don't think there is a delay. We've all been told across the country that they will be delivered (the Canadian allotment are all sold ) the end of May. It makes sense for a company to try and get the bikes into the hands of owners at roughly the same time to avoid being accused of favoring one geographic area over another. It appears there is more consistency here in Canada than the US, maybe because of the network of Powerhouse dealers. Having said all that there may be some problems with the DCT (as reported on this forum). Just wait until June and we'll see.

Just got a call this afternoon from Rocky Mountain Honda Powerhouse. They have an unveiling and media event on May 14th. I have a time slot booked for a ride on the DCT AT. Still no confirmation date for the delivery of my bike - still saying late May or early June.

Release Date July 28th?

My dealer here in Montana is telling me Honda has moved the USA release date to July 28th. I've had a deposit on one since the day they announced it. Frustrated to say the least if this delay is true. Can anyone corroborate the release date?

If yours is a dct then that could be why.

Just a quick update of the first ride:

WHAT’S BEST: The Africa Twin finally comes to Canada in a new, improved and innovative package with one litre power, all-road ability, an optional dual clutch automatic transmission, dynamic power and with traction mode choices, all starting at an affordable $13,999.

WHAT’S WORST: Arrggh! The best colour combo (red) is only available in the manual model. The bike is also really too big for real trail riding. But who cares? And the DCT adds $1,000 and 10 kg but, after a test ride, customers might find it worthwhile.

WHAT’S INTERESTING: In markets such as Europe, more than half of the customers are opting for DCT automatics when available. Bow to the inevitable. It will happen here too.

DCT is a good one to look into, but it's too bad they just listed the DCT and didn't list why some mind find it worthwhile and even reason for why some won't find it to be worth while.

That's what those who have yet to buy one should look into, many reviews out there, many experiences, many opinions to analyze.
