Well, it might be posted elsewhere but I thought I'd post it here.....
Jimmy Lewis is a Baja 1000 winner and Dakar podium USA rider. He runs an off road riding school (for any size bike) and Dakar prep school between Death Valley and Las Vegas and I've had several friends go to his school and I've sat down for a few beers with the man......he is a genuinely fantastic person and down to earth individual and someone that will talk bikes all night long! He writes for a few publications in the US and is involved in different projects from bike development to trail riding advocacy. Basically I believe and follow his writings as he has the skill and background and a pilar in this area.
Here is a link to his article from riding the AT at the Honda USA press launch last week in Moab.
