Lone Rider mini bags

For the riding I intend to do, I need only a small couple of bags and am interested in the mini bags by Lone Rider. I pick up my 2022 AT AS this Spring and would like to know if anyone has experience with these bags. I addition, should they be mounted on the crash bars or attached to the grab handles? I intend to purchase the Outback Motortek Protection Combo Max.

I'm open to suggestions regarding alternative bags.

TIA

Lone Rider is getting good reviews, lots of other choices with great bags like Kriega, Mosco, Wolfman, Bagtecs etc.
I picked up a pair of Scotish 6 litre LOMO's and this is how they look mounted on HEED bars, they all function the same way and look similar, as long as they don't crack, easily tear or leak should be good.

Thanks for the photo. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The LOMO bags looks great. Is it attached solely to the lower crash bar?

Impressed so far with the lomo crash bar bags very thick and great value for money
The Lomo bags are made in China
That's probably the case for other much more expensive brands...LOMO explains how they are just a small group of enthusiasts entrepreneurs, working from home with a small retail store and a fixing and testing space.
At least they are honest about it and waaay cheaper then the greedy competition (y)

Can these LOMO bags be securely mounted to the passenger grab handles on a 2022 AT AS?
I really should switch my avatar photo from that of my wife to me before I'm classified as a weirdo on this forum Lol!

It would be better to install one of these $118 racks, and then you can attach soft, hard or other bags/panniers or Rotopack etc.

great suggestion, Dado. I'm wanting to steer clear of any rack systems.

Hey Guys, off of the information in this thread I went out and bought a set of LOMO bags to fit to the crash bars of my bike for my most recent tour to Morocco.
I would like to share some thoughts on the product:

Space. My previous crash bar bags were much smaller so I welcomed the extra space, although it is tempting to overpack when you get more space.
But if you are offroading like me, this space has some caveats. I DO drop my bike - often. When offroading it could be multiple times a day depending on the terrain.
The LOMO bags become the first thing to hit the ground and they are basically saving my crash bars!
I had my aluminium lunchbox for food and cooking stuff in there and it took a beating and is now broken. This also happened when I had smaller bags before but I was not tempted to put more important things in them.

If used wisely, the extra space could be used to be more flexible with weight distribution back to front on the bike. Theoretically I already thought of this and since I was going into the desert, I figured this could be handy. i.e. moving weight back when heading into sand.
Reality is terrain changes too fast to be bothered with moving luggage back and forth, at least that is what I found on this trip.
Result, I probably carried more weight up front that I normally do. This could be good and bad and change between them in the blink of an eye on a challenging trail.

Attachment. The fittings on the bag are meant to be universal, and they are. But there is a catch!
The straps that hold the bag to the bike are also compression straps, they will cinch that bag nice and snug to the bars. They kind of have to to keep it steady.
Problem is working with the contents of the bag. One the bag and remove something. Suddenly these straps that are both compression and fixing loosen. The entire bag is now no longer tightly attached to the crash bars. Same but worse the other way around, i.e. adding something to the bag. First you must loosen these straps which loosens the whole bag from the crashbars.

I am looking to mod the bags so that there is a small velcro strap at the top that at least supports the weight of the bag in place when loosening the main compression and attachment straps.
This doesn't sound like much till you do it several times a day on the road. Then it becomes tiresome.

Rollover top. We always look at these roll over tops and high quality and waterproof. Waterproof they may be but when its not raining they are only a pain. There is a small strap that can cinch down the top roll without going full scuba on closing it. It works, but somehow not very satisfying to be riding around with the bag only closed by this one strap. The bags develop "ears".
This last one is not really a problem but rather an aesthetic annoyance.

So that is my little review of the LOMO crashbar bags.
