New AT Owner in Texas

Recently bought a '21 Africa Twin with manual transmission and 275 miles on the odometer. Have been riding off and on for 40+ years, owining a Suzuki GS750 before getting married and a Ducati Monster when I was 40 or so. I am now retired and preparing for a ride from Southern Colorado to Sturgis in late summer. Love the AT, wonderful blend of power and functionality. Bike came with hard panniers and birdcage crash bars, and I have added taller windscreen from National Cycle and wind diffuser for the forks. Significant improvement in the buffeting department. Apologize for any future questions that are borderline crazy........

Hola @wileygm, welcome to the Forum. Are you heading north for the Get On Adv ride? I went with some friends last year and did not really enjoy the whole experience though the rides were worth the trip. The organizers made some bad decisions regarding food and off-road rides. We saw quite a few less experienced riders drop their machines on trails that were more difficult than advertised. So be advised.

That said, there is a lot to see and do in the area. The Crazy Horse monument, Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower and Deadwood, SD. The roads and trails were memorable. Say hello to Wild Bill and Calamity Jane when you get to the Mount Moriah Cemetery. Have a good ride up there.

And ride safe.

Hi and welcome

Thanks for the note, WW. I don't plan on doing the Get On ADV ride as I will be joining a crew of 6 guys that mostly ride Harleys. I will be the noob and this is a bucket list ride for me. Looking forward to it like a kid on the first day of school; nervously anticipating the festivities to come! Echo the ride safe part. Lost a brother years ago that forgot the ride safe part.....
Twins up!
