New bike purchase

Hello from Canada everyone. Researching my first street bike purchase. I have some dirt bike experience, but very little street experience. My research has brought me to the DCT. This gives me three choices, and the nc750 isn't really what I want. So it's between the AT and Crosstourer. I'm leaning toward the AT mainly because its lighter in weight. The goal is to start touring after I get some experience with the sport. Any advice, criticisms of myself or either bike would be greatly appreciated. Plan to make a deposit this week.

There has been a bit of discussion on this. I think the consensus is that if you plan to ride on pavement (tarmac) only then the CrossTourer is probably the better bet. If you plan to ride mainly tarmac but with a bit of gravel/sand/grass/mud thrown into the mix then the Africa Twin is probably a better buy.

Certainly from my couple of test rides the Africa Twin seems very good on the pavement so even if you just prefer how it looks and feels then you won't be making too much of a mistake buying one.

Welcome!
It really sounds like the Africa Twin is a good all-rounder. Having ridden sport bikes, other adventure bikes, and cruiser/standards, I'd say this is a type of bike you could purchase and really hang on to for a long time. All the review suggest it is a relatively capable tourer (although not a tourer), really capable off-road, and has some pretty advanced technology for the price point (ABS, traction control, suspension components).
Good luck with your decision! If you buy one, too, we'll be eagerly awaiting their arrival here in Canada in the coming months.
Maybe give the AT a try at your local dealership. If you fall in love after the first ride then it could be the one for you.
Thanks for the replies! Well I've got a definite delivery date oooof......some time between may15 and june15. With all the interested in this bike, it will have to be purchased before I even see it let alone ride it. Told them I will decide before the weekend. Canadian pricing for DCT is $15300. A lot of coin to buy something based on a photo.
