Greetings, one and all, and good to be here! I'm a new member to the forum, hailing from the far north suburbs of Detroit, and still waiting patiently for delivery of my red DCT. However, reading and participating in the discussions here (along with the spotty MI spring weather) definitely help to make the wait more bearable. I'm really looking forward to sharing the AT experience with other owners and being part of the community. So to all my current and future fellow AT'ers... Cheers!

Thanks, FullThrottle. Dealer gave me a ship date of 5/29, so I expect early June. I don't currently have a bike in the garage to tide me over, so I actually get a bit bummed on the nice days! :wink2:

Cat I am planning a Michigan trip this summer and I would like to do it on an AT but will do it on my ST 1300 if my AT doesn't show up in good time. Plan on leaving Pa head to Niagra across Canada into MI north to the UP back into CA around Huron then south back into Pa. If you have any tips I would much appreciate them. Hope you see your AT soon.

Hey, Fster. Sounds like a great trip! And there's plenty to do/see along or close to that route.

One of the best online resources to check is http://www.michigan.org.

But I grew up in the NE Lower Peninsula and have lived in various parts of the state (mostly eastern Lower) most of my life, so I've got some knowledge of what's around as well! :wink2: I guess I'd have to ask if there's a specific goal or focus to the trip, or are there any specific interests you have or types of sights you'd like to see (natural, historic, etc)? Shoot me a PM and we can discuss further.

In any case, I'll be happy to help in any way I can, and if I have my AT by then (and if I'm able and you're willing) I would be happy to join you for a bit of it and provide a decidedly amateur "guided" tour. Hey, any excuse to get out and ride and show off the great things in my home state! :grin2:

Cat I'm going to work on a preliminary route and once thats done I will send it to you for recommendation and alterations. I'm kinda just into miles and scenery so it shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for the offer.

Re: Michigan trip. You will love the UP rides. My favorites are from Grand Marias to Munising through the Pictured Rocks, the Keweenaw pennisula, US 2, and Sault St. Marie to Paradise on the Curly Lewis highway.

In the Lower Pennislua, the ride from Alpena to Mackinaw City along Lake Huron is very nice. The ride from Mackinaw City to Charlevoix along Lake Michigan is also great.
