Hi there! Very excited to be here.
I am from South Africa and am only freshly introduced to the seat of a beautiful Africa Twin. I grew up riding bikes, nothing too serious mind, I normally ride a crf 230. However, in a special place in our garage has always sat my father's Africa Twin, and she is a beauty.
With the black and grey colour scheme, she was one of the last 750's ever made, having been created in 2003 and sold in SA in 2004. Dad has gone out solo, with friends, and with my mom on a few rides and he has only ever said great things about the bike's comfort and ease for touring.
Unfortunately, my dad has glaucoma and of late he hasn't been able to take the old girl on as many decent rides. My brother and I have therefore taken it upon ourselves to keep her in good nick for dad and that is why I am speaking to you today!
I can carry out simple maintenance but I need help with a few tips from you, a fellow fan. If you are keen to spend a few minutes online helping out a rookie I can promise pictures and stories of our AT out and about once she is moving like she was built to!
First on the agenda...replaced her indicators with temporary ones until we can find some second hand originals...anyone know what resistance they need to work one at a time? I have confused a few motorists on our "test route" with all going off at the same time for a left hand turn...help?
Picture Caption: This was dad and the Twin the first time he rode it home. Interesting story, he saw it online, fell in love with it and immediately booked a flight to Cape Town. After buying it he drove it one shot all the way home to KZN!! Without having got a licence!! Talk about a hypocrite.
