Pics of my rear spokes after 1500 miles. Bike ridden in mainly dry conditions, but some rain, in the UK.
Looked after carefully and now covered in ACF50.
I'm going to carry on for the moment and monitor the situation but at some point i expect a warranty claim to go in and be honoured. At the moment i expect i would just get the same spokes back and there is obviously an issue

Interesting! I had a new AT on order but when I was in my dealer on Sunday there was 3 week old one available s/h with only 250 miles on the clock. It has spokes that look similar to the photos. I have opted for this one rather than new as a/ it has all the extra bits I was going to buy fitted. b/ significant cash advantage. c/ balance of Honda warranty that I am assured will be honoured. Hope I am doing the right thing.
My theory is I would have done 250 miles within a couple days of getting a new one anyway and the wheels would probably be the same shortly afterwards .. SO might as well take the cash saving. Still time to change my mind but I think the logic is sound. I will have a go a cleaning up the spokes and cover them in ACF50 but I tend to use my bikes a lot rather than clean all the time so I am not overly bothered by this corrossion in the short term. Clearly if it gets lots worse I will claim under warranty but on the other hand may wait for the fix from Honda.

Hi All. Just Joined.
I HAD a AT . loved the bike and it was superb off road for a big Trailey but it was corroding faster than I could get to the nearest dealer. I bought it with 500 miles on it and I noticed that the spokes were getting tarnished. it actually got so bad and pitted that i took it straight back where the dealer said this is very common now and Honda cannot cope with the warranty claims.
Also the head-stock bearing had rusted and was failing and other little brackets here and there were corroding .
i decided to sell it back to the dealer as the bike was going to look a mess in a few years.
The Heated Grips are £300 too much as are tepid in temperature and are of a physically weak design.. i will get another one but i may wait for the Mark 2 to come out if anyone knows when that Might be?

Well I am glad I had the 3 year factory warranty extended to 4 years when the AT was purchased.

Must be the best warranty that exists, keep it 3 years and sell it with 12 months warranty.

1200 Miles, all weathers, absolutely not a mark on the bike, or corrosion, and ridden when salt was still on roads (bike returned home covered in white salt).

Mine are still OK but thanks for posting pics of what you're dealing with. I haven't seen the results until now. I'm very curious what manufacturing changes happened between testing and production that would have allowed this big of an issue to occur. Maybe a different supplier at the last minute?
