Well that thread addressed basically nothing for the original post. Eeesh.
That is basically true, but by the sound of it that's because Dynajet (Powercommander) are behind the curve on this one, and have yet to produce modules that will work with the 2018 bike. So no-one has answered my original post probably because no-one has been able to get a powercommander kit. (I am a bit surprised that no-one has tried fitting one to the earlier bikes though)
It's irritating because when insuring my new bike I paid £70 extra in premium for having a powercommander fitted - the insurer is aware that this will only be fitted when it becomes available.
Ghostrider makes some valid comments and I may ask my insurers whether the rapidbikeeasy evo would be covered by my £70 surcharge.

PS I am loving the way the mid range power is delivered on the 2018 version. And the low revs aren't as bad as they were on my 2017 bike. Who knows maybe I will just put up with it (would hate to screw up the mid range accidentally)

I have contacted both Dynojet and RevZilla and they assure me the power commander 5 is available for 2016-2019 models for both the base and the ATAS.

It has been posted in other threads by other users who have purchased the PC5 that the abrupt fuel cutoff is fixed, low speed throttle is made smooth, and the rev range flat spots are removed for a straight, linear response when installing the PC.

The general consensus is that it works. No one seems to have trouble with installation, either. I will be putting my order in soon based on these results.

As you say there's a lot of subjectivity about it, but I have found that setting gravel model (least engine power (3) and least engine braking(3)) seems to make things smoother in slow heavy traffic. However if I really want to zing along I switch to user mode which I have set as max engine power (1) and minimum engine braking (3). I have never managed to get TC to kick in on my previous AT nor this new one, so at the moment that setting seems to be irrelevant for my style of riding

I have the 2017 twin with dct. The Honda shop where I live in Ithaca ny, suggested a pc when I told them I’d like a Yoshimura exhaust, and K&N air filter installed. Do these seem like good add ins to you?

Actually for 16-17 models the correct unit is 16-064 and for 18-19 16-072 .
But the problem are the differences between euro and US bikes , so the 16-072 still not working on ride by wire bikes newer bikes .
And that´s why you cannot buy a PC5 for 18-19 NOT US models at the moment, hopefully they will sort that out soon (but if it´s like the new cb1000r , you will wait years )

This fits with what Dynajet in the UK are saying to me. And they said two weeks but that was at least a month ago

Yeah this struck me yesterday- do euro bikes have to pass post sale emissions tests?

Is the problem solved on US 2017 models using a PCV? I already have the Akrapovic slipon and plan on aftermarket air filters soon simply so I can clean them. I'd like a PCV as well if it is plug and play with a downloadable map. I'm not hauling this thing to a dyno which is 430 miles away. I've read so many posts about error codes and such using the dynojet PCV. I currently have no roughness down low or jerky throttle symptoms. My bike actually runs pretty clean but wouldn't mind a little more HP.

Didn't think so, sad the Honda is so weird when it comes to a PCV. Always has great results on Suzuki race bikes with either a ECU flash or PCV plus a dyno run in.
Can you please explain why that wouldn’t be what he would be looking for? I to am wanting my 2017 at to be running it’s very best. Was thinking pc, Yoshimura exhausts, and k&n air filter. Good? No good?

They are working on it .
Will be happy if they are able solve this problems soon , looks to me that will not happen.

That´s why i told you to think about a Rapid Bike , as i know this is working , have one on my ATAS

No i´m not producing or selling Rapid Bike.

I would like to keep this thread purely about the powercommander rather than other methods of attempting to solve the problem (please )
I've done a search of all the subforums on here and it doesn't look like anyone has actually fitted a powercommander yet - if anyone has please shout up and tell us whether it works.
I am talking to Dynojet about fitting one to a 2018 model year bike. They say that they haven't got the kit out yet for the 2018 (but by implication it has been available for the earlier model).
They are also suggesting that for the DCT (because it can't be put on a rolling road dyno) the solution will be a powercommander 5 plus their autotune module. This is an expensive solution at over £500 but the Africa Twin is such a brilliant bike that it may be worth it if it solves the one imperfection for me (well the heated grips, and the crap outside air temp guage are a nuisance as well :grin2:)
Whilst browsing their website I have come across what appears to be dynojet's equivalent of the RapidBikeEasy (which didn;t work for me). It's not listed yet as being available for the Africa Twin but I've asked them. Since it's just described as a fuel controller it may be more what we are after if all we are trying to do is solve Euro lean fuelling issues. http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/products/PCFC/powercommander_pcfc.aspx

PS - I'm also exploring how insurance companies view these products and for this purpose (imroving low rev fuelling) it seems they are quite accommodating - but will report back
I installed a Power Commander 5 that was built for the Africa Twin 2016-2017 in April 2017, straight plug and play install did it myself. My bike is a Jan 2016 build. Purchased from Revzilla in the US. Installed on original pipe and muffler with stock mapping. Made a difference but not dramatic. Removed CAT with a set of Black Widow headers, that made a slight difference as well. Then had it re-tuned on a Dyno that made a big difference. To do that you have to disable the Pair Reed Valve, that really means you have to get down to the Throttle Body and remove that to block off the air supply for the PRV. An easy 15% gain from 2k rpm all the way through to 4500rpm very crisp response, plus good gain across the entire rev range. Key thing on the 16-17 models is the CAT puts a hole in the TQ curve between 2-4.5 k rpm I think that's why they went to twin CATS in 18 models. Does not matter if you go PC V or Rapid Bike if you don't disable the pair valve at time of tuning you a pissing into the wind. So the outcome of the story was the big gain is in the headers not the muffler if you want to change hardware. There is a big punch in performance especially when you first crack the throttle after a re-tune.
