Rear Fairing and Tail Light Access

612 Views 10 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Hood
Hej All, Does any one have a link /video or other info on what needs to be done to remove the rear fairing? I need to get into the rear tail light to repair a broken clip/wire..

I can find plenty for the 1000, but nothing for the 1100s.

Thanks in advance.

Standard or Adventure Sport? They are different with regards the side panels. If the standard then you should be able to find the instructions for fitting the rear rack which shows most of it.
I have the Adventure Sport. There is a panel covering the tail light that ALMOST looks like an access panel, but the readily accessible screws & bolts do nothing much to loosen it.

You will have to take off the side panels first, there are, if my memory serves me right, 3 bolts and two push pins on each, one bolt is underneath.
I was really hoping to not have to pull the side panels, even though that was what I was expecting...
Might also have to pull the inner panels once you get the outers off, been a while so can't remember exactly.
Ok from the manual.

This bit you probably won't need to remove.

Thanks a lot Hood, if you ever make it to Providence I hope you will let me take you to Lunch/beers.
One thing is for sure … As with any disassembly on the AT, it won’t be easy…

Do you happen to have a link/pdf /source for that manual? I've seen a couple listed here on the forum. Suppose I should just go ahead and get my own.

It is easy, just need firm but not excessive force. If it feels stuck there will be a clip or bolt you have not removed.

I have the paper one but got the pdf one from a Russian site but don't recall where, sorry.
