I have the MMoto fully welded rear rack on my NC700X and it offers great ceash protection. They make one for the AT as well, but it only accepts zega panniers. Which are expensive. Hoping to find something that accepts monokey or Tusk panniers.

The Happy Trails and Touratech racks are allegedly crash worthy. Happy Trail seems to have more mounting options. Not available for 2018+ yet.

I went with the Motech system, but time will tell if it provides rear protection- I suspect it does not. I think Givi and Bumot are similarly questionable.

I have new Happy Trails racks (see photo) and use my older Happy Trails Aluminum Panniers on my 2017 AT DCT. I haven't drop tested yet (with no plans to do so) but I'm pretty sure they will take a hit. The Happy Trails folks provide great customer service. A simple phone call or email will confirm compatibility with your specific year/model. They sell anchor kits which would let you adapt other panniers, pelican cases, etc. to their racks by drilling four holes. Again, talk to their customer service - they can usually answer your questions.

I plan to pick up a tool kit carrier rack that installs on the inside of the non-muffler rack for which they are offering a specialized GIVI s250 tool box anchor. It will also work for other things like a Rotopax tank. Link: https://www.happy-trail.com/find-yo...happy-trails-su-inner-tool-utility-shelf.html
