Which after market rims will fit a Africa Twin Adventure Sport 1100l?

GLM (Giant) apparently do a rim. It's used by VMX and others who build complete wheel sets. Apparently Alpina wheels also use GLM rims, as I have seen photos of Alpina wheels with the GLM markings on the rims. KKE Racing use the VMX wheels, which as mentioned use the GLM rims. I haven't been successful yet trying to find someone who will sell me only a rim, to replace a dented rim. I might be looking at a trueing service to make my rim round again.

It's a pity this thread is so sparse.

I was hoping someone else would chime in with alternatives. But I think having only owned my AT AS for 3 weeks now, I have found the real "issue". Most people are trying to go TUBELESS with a Standard hub, for tubed rims. This involves finding a rim to suit the exisiting standard hub that is tubeless converted.

But 'we' are trying to go another way, by already having tubeless rims, but not happy with how soft the D.I.D. OEM rim is. So 'our' purpose is to find a stronger rear wheel setup that doesn't require us changing our hub, brake disc & ABS sensor ring, and keeping the Cross Laced spoke hub we already have.

So as mentioned, I have found that GIANT (GLM) do make a rim, but I have yet to get anyone to give me any details on how many spoke holes, etc.
GLM Rim Catalogue "MT (**Tubeless JJ 'hump') 4.25x18" CS(Cross Spoke) ADV"

Here is an image I found of the rim for the 17in BMW R1200, clearly showing it's a Giant (GLM) rim.

This supplier say they deal "direct with the manufacturer" so I have asked them if they can supply the 18in version of this rim, which should fit the AT AS if the number of spoke holes are correct.

The Alipna Raggi product uses the STS2 version of the Giant rim, that is sorta 'Cross Laced' but uses the double o-ring seal on the spoke nipples staggered in the centre of the rim to make it tubeless. I have heard from wheel builders that have worked on these that they consider them a quite reasonable solution.

However having now seen a dented and bent rim up close, my wheel has stress marks at a number of spoke holes in the rim. So I am firmly of the opinion, this Cross Laced design with holes around the outer rim is flawed. It DEFINATELY weakens the rim where the holes are. In one case where the laser etched markings are on the rim, you can see the distortion in the letter where the hole goes underneath the writing for the spoke! Makes me wonder if other than 17in for BMW's Adv bike 'standard', the smaller rim is less prone to this effect?

If anyone was interested IMHO :censored: the tubeless "Rally" wheels are "the BUSINESS", but I have only just started to research those....

At this stage I realise that changing the hub, brake disc, & ABS ring, and going with a tubeless 'sealed' tube type setup is 'one option', but that's a LOT easier when you are already starting with that setup. Surely there has to be more and better options with a bit of reasearch and demand for those of us that have tubeless setups already? Am I the only person with an AT AS with a bent rear wheel that wants to stay 'TUBELESS'??

** This is the correct profile rim you need for tubeless setups. Making a tubed rim "tubeless" is not a great idea, as the bead can just slip into the rim without the MT "JJ" 'hump' to hold the bead in place, or a tube holding it there.

Excel rim profiles:

Why it's important: Tube type rim top, Tubeless MT "JJ" 'humped' (safety lip) rim bottom.
