I found that with the ram mount on the screen crossbar and a 2inch extension it was just too far away for comfort. I have added an 8mm ram mount on the handlebar mount bolt top left. I have used the same 2 inch ram extension bar and it sits really nicely and within comfortable reach. The ram mount on the crossbar will enable me to mount a GoPro clone with a 4inch extension and it will sit nicely above my screen. Looks like it's dry tomorrow so will look forward to a run out.
Just got back in from a short ride out. The Garmin 590LM works a treat in the new position. A glance down is all it takes and being slightly left of centre it clears both original display panels. Solid as a rock and within easy reach should I need to touch the screen. All in all a great success. Now just to run a new feed to the PC-8 and will be all done and will free up the accessory socket.
hi mike did you ever find what this mount was thanks greg

Can I bump this question again? I'd like to go into my local BMW motorrad store and talk sensibly about which part I'd like them to order. I have tried searching for the Navigator V mounting kit on line but in the UK it's not coming up with anything that looks like what Kimimat has found

Pics would be handy please :)

Nah - I ended up buying the handmade thing from Germany £40 but it's built to fit a 12mm bar and ours is 13mm so it nips it at 4 places (probably damaged it but I haven't taken it off. Unlike the Garmin Zumo 220 which I have binned.
I now use my iphone 7 plus with Copilot and I like it.
I bought a u-bolt handlebar mount which fits the central thickest section of the handlebar if you remove the radius reducer. On that goes a 2inch Ram connector with an X-mount Large sitting on top. These X-mounts come with a rubber tether which is a nuisance to put on and off every time. I have been running it without the tether for a while now and the phone has never moved. Mind you I don't do any off-road stuff.
This set up suits me as I don't need to carry extra cables or charging kit when I go away - or of course a separate satnav. (I do have an old iphone 6 as a backup but this fits straight into the X-mount too.)

If anybody has mounted a GPS using the Touratech GPS Handlebar Bracket Adapter, I would appreciate some comments on the instrument cluster visibility with the GPS in its bracket. If you can, please also post a relevant picture, tnx.
I have that fitted....I’ll post a pic with the gps fitted ASAP. However, it sits right under the clocks without obscuring anything.

Thanks a lot for the swift response Davy! Based on an earlier post, I thought you had yours mounted on the bar over the instruments, so I assume you moved it to the handlebar because of vibration, right? I would love to see a picture of your GPS on that bracket.
I did have it over the clocks but moved it after reading about other owners bar breaking. TBH, it’s mostly those doing a lot of off reading on their bikes.....something I’m incapable off in Northern Ireland. Still, best be safe than sorry.

This position must be viable only without a tankbag, I assume that if somebody uses a tankbag then the only viable low position is left or right on the steering bar, with an extending arm to clear the tankbag.
This view is exactly how it looks with me sitting on the bike (5’ 11’).

I don’t use a tank bag....never really liked them.

hey guys, havnt been around for ages, sorry about the million year reply.
The piece in the middle is the bit you want, It can be sold seperately, and cost less than $20 from memory. Take this picture into your BMW dealer and tell them you need that middle bit, mine came from Germany, so they can do it.

I’ve got a navigator VI to go on my ATAS, but due to the new style speedo and sun shade/cowl, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to use the plastic BMW mount kiwimat uses. I still want to mount it above the speedo so has anyone got any other ideas please.

This........
You guys probably know this but our rail is 13mm and these mounts along with the nicely machined one I bought from Germany, are built for a 12mm rail (or 10mm by the looks of Davy's photo). You can make them fit but they don't fit right and they mark the 13mm rail where they contact just at 4 points.
Just saying.
And if anyone in the UK would like mine just let me know and I will sell it at half what I paid.

I’ve the SW-Motech q/r Mount. First fitted to my screen brace, now between the handlebar clamps. Fitted on the screen brace fine and totally mark free after moving it. Seemed to fit perfectly, no complaints.

Mine was (is) the Hornig one direct from Germany - made for the BMW bikes so made for a 12mm rail. It's very well machined alloy so has sharp edges. A plastic or nylon one would grip without marking I think. Or of course - what I was planning to do was bolt it together and drill out the centre hole to 13mm but in the end the guy in Germany said no-one bothered doing that.

I got the CRF13 BikePenr the other day(the shorter one). Exxy but works and does what it should.
