I currently ride a Super Tenere from a R1200GS and now considering the AT. I ride the Super Tenere pretty hard off road and now hoping that I can do it even harder on the AT. Here's to hoping.

Welcome to the forum! What kind of off road terrain do you take your Super Tenere to?
We tend to do mostly desert rides, soft sand, double tracks. We also go up into the mountains to hit some single track that we shouldn't be doing with the smaller bikes. All in all a great bike but it could lose 100lbs. I'm hoping the AT will get it done before I completely trash the S10.

If it doesn't shed enough weight we might have to look to ourselves, got to hit the gym :D
I think a large part missing from this weight discussion is where its located... might not mean much if its low and central... Its only when you get high CG bikes that things start to become totally hairy... IMO
We can't really comment on the weight distribution until someone tests out the Africa Twin in real life.
Unfortunately weight is weight regardless of where it's at. Not much of a difference on the road but off the pavement it is huge especially if you're trying to get through either sand or mud.
Haven't been here for a while but a quick update. The white one is finally coming either this week or early next week so I may be the first HRC color here in southern California! I got a chance to ride both the DCT and manual yesterday and decided that DCT just took too much enjoyment out of riding for me so I'm going with manual.
