I’ve seen the chunking and tearing on ADV, for some reason I bought it anyway. Looks like I need to get a spare rear on order. Thanks for the update

I've gone through a few sets of tires on my 21 AT Std. and found I'm tied between the Mitas E07+ and the Shinko 804/805 combo. I really liked the Mitas (on the rear) but got only about 4k out of it. The Shinkos are going to surpass that mileage mark by a long shot.

In the dirt, the winner is Shinko, unless I'm side-hilling or it's really muddy. The Mitas rear was good in the dirt, but the front was a crap shoot on every ride. I never found the right combination of pressure and body position to make it stick (dirt or tarmac).

On the tarmac, the Mitas (rear) was very good and surprisingly quiet. The Shinkos are just a tad louder but - and this surprised me - they have more stiction than the Mitas despite the knobbier tread. I just finished a 700 mile ride through the Texas Hill Country, including the Three Twisted Sisters, on a fresh set of Shinkos and never had the guys on street tires have to wait for me.

All said, I wanted the Motoz Adventure on the rear and the TKC80 on the front, but neither tire was available. Maybe on the next set.
Have you tried the E-07's (not the + version)?
Have a set at the moment. I am over 6000km in with off road, but mainly on road and I would say not even half way through them.

The elephant in the room question is - how are you with the trottle? This is the real differentiator. I am gentle rider. Wheelspin only when necessary.

I have the Shinko 705's Great tires. Long mileage. Low cost. Great on highway and dirt. Lousy on mud
Like @LukeWhere, I ran a set of Shinkos (804/805) before the Dunlops I'm running now. They lacked some lateral stability in the loose stuff due to the block arrangement and they got really loud and annoying on tarmac when they started wearing and flattening. They were absolutely the cat's meow in sand though. Almost like a set of sand paddles. I rode with them when I lived in Florida and rarely got stuck anywhere in deep sand.

Today I'm running Dunlop Trailmax Mission 2 tires. I must say I have had a really good run with them. I put them on new back in 2021 before I ran the COBDR (1,700 miles, 80% off road) and they're still on the bike. They've been on the bike for 2 yrs & 3 months, and 8,200 miles. About the only situation they don't handle well (surprise) is thick, gooey mud. IMHO the only surface the Shinkos handled better was in deep sand.

I've not tried the E 07+. 'Sides, anything with a '+' is better, right?

As I admitted earlier, I'm hard on the loud handle and few would consider me gentle. Fifty+ (there's that better symbol, again) years of off-road, thirty+ racing built some bad habits, I guess.

You can mix and match without problem as Long as it’s allowed by big brother government. I keep a spare front and rear on hand. Change one, buy one, but I change them myself when needed.

I don't have tools to mount and balance tubeless tires, so I can't do that myself... Government here allow different tires on different axles but I don't trusti it so much as I've not a lot of experience in motorbikes...

I have a dunlop mission on front and a mitas e07 on rear. The only time I have matching tire is when it rolls out of the shop new.

Suggest you buy some tools if you plan on riding for a while, they will pay for them selves on the first tire swap. Same tools tube or tubeless, often same tires

I'm not sure they'll pay for them selves (even if I have lot of tools that won't pay for themselves ahahha).
With previous bike I was changing about 1 pair of tires per year (15 000 Km).
The shop was aligned in prices with the internet and mounting was included in price, so...

Looking to replace my stock tires, rear is flat from a gravel shard. I'm thinking I want something more dirt oriented that can maybe resist rock punctures, but I'm wondering how much of an impact it will have on the highway 80-100 mph. I'm guessing 60/40 tire, any recommendations?
I currently have a set of Dunalap Mission F&R. I've been riding on them for about 1500 miles. I switched to them from a set of Motoz Adventure. The reason for the switch was I have a lot of pavement between me and the dirt and the Motoz we just getting eaten up on the road and were very noisy. Back to the Dunlaps. I have found that the Missions are a decent all-around tire for me. They are a rounded tire that is very confident on the road and do well on the gravel/dirt roads I encounter. They are not great in the mud but they will get you through. I haven't had them in sand. They are a step up from the Shinko 705 but not quite the 50/50 that Dunalp claims, or maybe it's 70/30 or maybe it's 30/70?? I would rank them as 60/40 tires. I can't tell you about 100mph because I just don't ride that fast. All in all, I think they are a good tire. If you want to save $$ and do mostly road, consider the Shinko 705, I could rail through corners on them, they gave me the best mpg, 50+ consistently. and I could hit the gravel road with good footing.

When I go on my next BDR or other extended backroad/wood adventure, I will spoon the Motoz Adventures back on. That tire will take me just about anywhere.

All with the MIssions in a day

Ciao Jetro, try a pair of Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, 50/50 tires, French and German journalists say a lot of good things about it...😉

Scorpion Rally STR 50/50? Perhaps the regular Scorpion Rally? The STR is a more STReet focused version of the Rally and really more in the 80/20 +/- range. The Rally is definitely more of a 50/50 tire.

Don't really do any off road, farm tracks is about the most we can find around here but I put on a TKC70 front and a TKC70 Rocks rear and I am delighted with them. They track well on dust and gravel and the grip on road I find unbelievable, have to keep my feet tucked in on the bends at times or I will wear away the sides of my boots :D That is wet or dry.

Hi I’ve just put the same tyres on as you I have only done about 50miles on them and presently the tyre’s feel awful what pressures are you running
Never had new tires feel so bad if it doesn’t improve I will be buying something different

Thanks will give it a try
Extremely disappointed at the moment with the tires as read loads of reviews and all them came with fantastic feedback going persevere with the tires as got the ABR festival in June if still not happy I will have to change hopefully with the correct tire pressure the bike will feel loads better

Here you go.

I have a TKC 70 90/90-21 H on back order at my Honda Dealer. Was told Continental no longer makes the T rating front tire only the H. How true I don't know since these front tires are scarce as of late...... enjoying my new 70 Rocks rear though.
Local dealer parts Manager called me today and said still having issues finding Continental TKC 70 90/90-21 H front tire. So I just went ahead and cancelled order (it's been on back order since Mar 26/2023). So the search is on again for same tire or possibly different brand.

A close friend has had his Continental TKC 80 90/90-21 on back order since mid February. He called a couple days and said was told by Summit Racing or Revzilla his tire is now on back order until July 31, 2023! What's up with Continental 21" front tires........?
